Dwelling in Hades

School camp deaths are disasters waiting to happen and could happen to anyone’s kids, says the mother of a boy who drowned at a camp.

My son Christian drowned here in our town run camp. He was there for 2 hours on his first day and the 5 staff members and lifeguards didn’t see him. We are in the process here of changing laws and have started a non profit to change some of these laws and provide free life jackets to all lakes and ponds and possibly beaches where kids can get a free loaner jacket. We set it up this way so all children will be safe even if they cant afford to buy one. We are a tax deductible non profit. We will be donating 50 life jackets to the camp that my son attended. They changed there no life jacket policy the week after the loss of my son.

Hi Derek – Thanks for stopping by. It’s always sad to here the news of a death, especially of a child, as the result of grownups ‘negligence.’ It’s also heartening to find that your unfortunale loss has lead to measures to prevent future losses.

Human life still means something in this country and, perhaps, that’s why New Zealanders so intensely dislike us.

    Wishing CEF Foundation ongoing success!
