Hmmm… the road toll surely couldn’t have anything at all to do with inexperienced drivers, alcohol consumption, or ordinary human frailties? No! It must be that the rental car companies are conspiring to kill foreigners! That is really the most obvious reason.

      Have you visited https://newzeelend.wordpress.com/the-dumbest/

Because your comment qualifies you to join the list.

A number of people have been trying to poll the tourists killed on NZ roads on how they would have preferred to be killed if they had a choice:

      1. “inexperienced drivers”
      2. Drunk drivers
      3. Drivers under the influence of banned substances
      4. kiwi Kamikaze drivers who hate foreigners, especially the Americans
      5. kiwi kamikaze drivers who are simply suicidal nuts
      6. Boyracers and teenagers on hormonal rush
      7. Straight honest “ordinary human frailties” [sic]
      8. Hiring defective cars from “rental car companies … conspiring to kill foreigners”
      9. Defective cars from the average car rental outlets that couldn’t give a toss who lived or died
      10. Defective cars from the average car rental companies that didn’t find it particularly profitable to buy safe cars or maintain their fleet in roadworthy condition.

Will let you know when the survey is complete!
