French-Canadian Tourist, Korean Sailor and Burmese Crewman Killed in New Zealand

Despite the zero-tolerance news blackout, details of three foreigners who were killed in New Zealand have been released.

It has also been revealed this morning that Prime Minister John Key has been on a three-day visit to Afghanistan amidst a total media black-out.

We added the above paragraph about John Key visiting Afghanistan, so that our foreign readers could learn how “total-media black-outs” operate in this country.

The partial list of the foreigners killed in New Zealand includes:

  • French-Canadian tourist Sorem Kvist, 40, from Montreal. “The man’s body was found halfway between Douglas Rock Hut and Copland Pass, south of Fox Glacier, late this afternoon, Greymouth police Acting Senior Sergeant Brent Cook said.” NZPA said.
  • Two sailors, a Korean and a Burmese, suffocated to death in a ship’s timber hold at Marsden Point wharf near Whangarei.

“A third crewman is in a stable condition in Whangarei Hospital following the accident, which happened aboard the Panamanian-registered bulk carrier TPC Wellington, about 5pm at Northport, 38km south east of Whangarei.” NZPA reported, after a temporary relaxation of  the “total-media black-out.”

A third crewman who was in a critical condition after trying to help the others, was taken to Whangarei Hospital.

Note: In New Zealand, on average 2 foreigners are killed and 4 are critically injured every three days .
