Is it due to the negligence of the truck driver who was with a female passenger and may be he was under the influence of liquor. The New Zealand traffic Police must verify this fact and if it was so the guilty truck driver should be punished and the victims family should be duly compensated as per law by the New Zealand Government .It is also learnt that these two male members were the only bread earner for their family in India leaving behind senior male members wife and old grand father. Not only me but many Indian families in India and New Zealand are aggrieved due to this great loss. I am also very much sad that two precious human life were lost who had come to New Zealand as tourist from India .May god rest their soul in peace.

What do you suppose the road toll is like in India?

@ Chris
you’re comparing a ‘top quartile (!!!)’ country with an MDC.
Even for such invalid comparison stats still look bad.
Road Deaths per 100,000 population
India: 11
New Zealand:9
