Inequality in New Zealand in brief

Posted by te2ataria on June 26, 2015

TRUE or FALSE?

Inequality in NZ hasn’t risen in 20 years: Treasury paper

A recent OECD report has found income inequality in New Zealand was above average for the group.

The OECD report released in December also indicated that the Gini coefficient, which broadly measures inequality, rose faster in New Zealand than in many other OECD countries between 1985 and 2011. Growing inequality meant the New Zealand economy didn’t grow to its full potential, stalling at 28 per cent growth between 1990 and 2010, instead of growing by 44 per cent.

However, the new Treasury report says inequality in this country has remained mostly constant since the early 1990s.

Actually, it’s TRUE. Inequality cannot physically rise any higher:

One per cent of the population own just about everything; ninety-nine per cent own FAAKK ALL!
