Tragedy hits Manshande family twice in 12 months

A motorcyclist who was killed in a collision with a truck on the West Coast Thursday has been named as John Samuel Manshande, police said.

Mr Manshande, a 27-year-old farm worker, believed to be from the Netherlands, was killed instantly.

The crash happened on Newcastle St in Waimangaroa, between Westport and Granity, about 11.40am, police said.

Double tragedy

Mr Manshande was the father of Anamiek Manshande, aged 22 months, who drowned in a shallow garden pond on a Waimangaroa farm almost exactly a year ago on 18 November 2014.

Fatal crash north of Pakaraka in Northland

Thursday, 12 November 2015 – 9:06am – Northland. Police are investigating the cause of a fatal crash north of Pakaraka in Northland early this morning.

At 2am a vehicle heading south on State Highway 10 has collided with a truck, which was transporting a house, about 1km north of Pakaraka. The 52-year-old driver of the southbound vehicle died at the scene. The driver and passengers in the transporter truck were shaken but unhurt.


Crash in Kawarau Gorge

Thursday, 12 November 2015 – 3:59am – The crash involved a single vehicle with six occupants. One of the passengers, aged 54 years of Alexandra, received a suspected back injury and was eventually flown to Dunedin Public Hospital. http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/crash-kawarau-gorge

Motorcyclist injured in collision with bull

A man riding a three-wheeled motorcycle was seriously injured after smashing into a bull standing in the middle of a rural Waikato road.

The 44-year-old from Waihi suffered serious chest, shoulder and arm injuries from the crash at the intersection of Wiseman and Eastport Rd in the Springdale area.
