Many road fatalities are routinely reported as road injuries, while others go unreported…

On average, 3 people are killed on New Zealand roads each day and about 10 others seriously injured, four of them critically.

  1. Only high-profile fatalities are reported in NZ.
  2. Many road fatalities are routinely reported as road injuries.
  3. A significant proportion of road fatalities go unreported, where possible.
  4. Fate of the crash victims are closely guarded as “state secret”.
