NZ’s state-of-the-art logging trucks and the wiz truck drivers
Five logging truck crashes in three weeks across Northland alone has been called as “totally unacceptable and intolerable”, by the Road Transport Forum chief executive Ken Shirleys.
“There’s been a phenomenal spike in crashes and as an industry we have to get on top of it. It would seem it’s predominantly driver error, suggestive of excessive speed, which is totally unacceptable,” Shirley said.
“The public find it intolerable, and rightly so – there’s no excuses. There’s an obligation on road users to drive to the conditions and that includes professional truck drivers.” http://www.nzherald.co.nz/northern-advocate/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503450&objectid=11633840
Logging trucks have been involved in several fatal crashes across the country in the past fess weeks. See blog content.
