Sleeping woman wakes to ute smash that killed driver in Tauranga
“Sylvia Lawrence woke to what she thought was an earthquake when a stolen ute smashed into her Tauranga bedroom, shunting her bed across the room. ”

Haast Police are investigating a burglary that occured [sic] at the Paringa Salmon Farm Café, South Westland on Saturday Night.
Overnight on 3rd December, unknown persons have entered the Paringa Salmon farm grounds and tampered with important machinery on site. The alleged offenders have shut off the water supply to the salmon rearing tanks, causing the salmon to suffocate due to lack of oxygen. Fatal Otumoetai crash [Bay of Plenty of Deaths]
Tauranga Police are seeking witnesses to the fatal collision on Otumoetai Road in the early hours of this morning, Monday 5 December 2016. A 17-year-old passenger remains in hospital with serious injuries.
Body of last foreigner killed in Kaipara Harbour tragedy found
Police can now confirm that a body has been found this morning at Muriwai Beach. Whilst formal identification is yet to take place, it is thought to be that of missing fisherman, Mr Taulagi Afamasaga. Seven other bodies had already been recovered since the boat capsized in the Kaipara Harbour on Saturday 26 November. The search for Mr Afamasaga’s body was called off on Thursday, but a fisherman discovered his body on the beach on Monday. Mr Afamasaga was the seventh foreigner killed in the avoidable tragedy.
