Car crash suicide officially recognized in New Zealand

Fatal car crash was deliberate –coroner

A Hawke’s Bay coroner has ruled that a young female  deliberately drove her vehicle into another car in an attempt to commit suicide, said a report.

She survived the crash, but the driver of the oncoming car was killed.

The victim, Pam McGarva, 55, a n early childhood teacher was killed in the crash, which occurred near Taradale in July 2014.

WTF: “After the crash, the young woman was charged with manslaughter by the police, but was acquitted after some evidence was ruled inadmissible.”

Man charged over fatal Kaitaia crash
A 54-year-old man was killed early this morning after a vehicle crash in Kaitaia. The victim was sitting on a park bench on Commerce Road when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle around 1am. A 20-year-old man has been arrested and will appear in the Kaitaia District Court this afternoon charged with driving with excess breath alcohol causing death.

Waikato Police are renewing calls for public assistance in their investigation into the disappearance of Kim Richmond more than five months ago.
