Auckland pounded by strong winds and heavy rain
Auckland is being battered by strong winds and heavy rain resulting in multiple weather-related incidents.
Multiple trees and at least two power lines have fallen down in the central Auckland area, and there have been a number of minor crashes, police reported. http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/auckland-police-attend-multiple-weather-related-incidents

Fatal crash near Matamata
A 24-year-old man was killed on State Highway 27, between Matamata and Waharoa, Waikato shortly after midnight. The victim, a pedestrian, was hit and killed violently by a vehicle.
Pukekohe Fatal Crash
At least two people were killed in the crash on Morgan Road, Pukekohe, police reported. At least one of the occupants is a male. No further details have been released, probably because the victims are foreign visitors.
