UK national killed on Methven Highway
Anthony Dennis Copperwheat, 24, was killed in a violent crash on the Methven Highway near Ashburton shortly after 3.30am on Sunday March 5th 2017, police said.
The victim was a UK national who was currently living in Methven. His car, possibly an ancient, defective and unroadworthy, went out of control and crashed into a powerpole on the Methven Highway near Ashburton.

At least two people [most probably overseas visitors] were killed in a violent crash between a car and truck on State Highway 4 near National Park this morning. “Those killed were the driver and passenger of the car.”
Fatal crash, Hurunui District

At least one person was killed in a fatal crash that occurred when a car went out of control and hit a tree at the intersection of State Highway 7 and Hurunui Bluff Road, Hurunui District just before 7:30am this morning, police said.

The victim who is Japanese and a waitress at The Rees Hotel, was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in Queenstown on Friday and remains in a coma in Dunedin Hospital.
