At least 8 people killed on the death roads, while body found in central Auckland’s “Deadmans” Bay

Four people were killed, two others seriously injured in a most violent head-on collision

At least four people were killed and two others seriously injured in a most violent fatal crash involving two cars on State Highway 2, Netherton, in the Hauraki District. The crash occurred at approximately 7:40pm this evening, Saturday 17 June, 2017, police said.

Family in mourning after two young men killed in crash on Auckland highway
“A family is mourning their “amazing little bro” after two people died and another was seriously injured in a car crash on Dairy Flat Highway in north Auckland on Saturday morning. Both of the dead were travelling in the same car, while the single occupant of the other car was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Woman killed in vehicle crash in Far North

A fatal crash on State Highway 10, Kaingaroa, Far North occurred just after 12.30pm.

Pedestrian killed in Gisborne

A female pedestrian was killed in Gisborne after she was hit by a car. The incident occurred on Cobden St at 11.06pm Friday night, police said.

Of the two dozen or so serious crashes that have occurred since last night, only 8 have been reported by the police.

Body identified in search for Kim Richmond

Police Road Fatality Reports [Extreme Censorship is in Effect]

  • Saturday: Only EIGHT road fatality reports were allowed by police, as of posting, despite at least 22 serious crashes reported locally. The eight fatalities listed above include one that occurred late Friday night.

    • Nigel Sammons, the 33-year-old man who was found dead on Black Street, Wairoa (Hawke’s Bay), around 5am on Sunday may have been hit by a vehicle, police said.

    • A man was killed after his car crashed into a roadside embankment near Taupō Saturday night, just before 11.30pm.

‘Unexplained Sudden Death’ in Auckland

Auckland police say investigating unexplained sudden death of a man

Police say they are “investigating” the “unexplained sudden death” of a 52-year-old man in central Auckland’s Freemans [“Deadmans”] Bay.  The body was discovered by the man’s friend about 10.40am on Saturday.
