Taihape the deadliest tiny town in NZ?

Taihape [population: 4,500] is a tiny town located in the middle of the North Island, New Zealand. It lies on State Highway 1, which runs North to South through the centre of the North Island.

Friday, 29 June 2018 –  Central
Wayne Robert Hughes was killed in a crash on State Highway One at Utiku, south of Taihape, early Thursday morning.
The van he was driving had crashed over a bank near Mickelsons Road at approximately 3:40am, police said.

    State Highway 2 is blocked just south of Nuhaka, east of Wairoa, due to a serious crash.
    Emergency services were notified just after 8pm this evening.
    There are likely to be significant diversions, and motorists are asked to avoid travelling in the area at this stage if at all possible.
