Death toll from the deadly storm was reported as only 64, instead of 2,975 as scientifically researched. About two-thirds of road fatalities in NZ go unreported, or unrecorded! A person was killed in workplace incident in Gisborne this morning.
Emergency services were called to Rakaiatane Road about 9am, where it appears a log has fallen on the person.

Man killed in Far North crash “after swerving to avoid an animal”
The fatality occurred on State Highway One at Umawera, north of Kaikohe.

Pedestrian killed in crash on SH2, Maramarua
Monday, 8 October 2018 – 10:51pm – Waikato
“A person has died and there are serious delays for motorists following a crash on State Highway 2 at Maramarua.
“At approximately 9:15pm a car and a pedestrian collided at the intersection of SH2 and Dimmock Road.
“Initial indications suggest a second car which was following the first car has swerved to avoid the incident and has crashed into trees.
“Then a third vehicle, a ute, travelling from the opposite direction has also tried to avoid the crash scene and rolled.”
The pedestrian was killed at the scene and at least four other people in the three vehicles have received various injuries.

Fatal crash on SH30, Te Kuiti
Monday, 8 October 2018 – 9:38pm – Waikato
A person was killed in a single car crash on Waitete Road/SH30, Te Kuiti.
The car rolled near Cotter Street shortly before 9pm tonight.
Two others have been transported to hospital with various injuries.

UPDATE crash in Bay of Plenty
Monday, 8 October 2018 – 6:57pm Bay of Plenty [of Deaths and Serious Injuries]
“Only three vehicles were involved in this crash [is that all??] at 5pm this evening at the intersection of SH2 and Wilson Road, not five as originally reported.
“Three people have serious injuries and have been taken to Tauranga Hospital for treatment.”
