Name release – Old North Road, Waimauku
The young woman who was killed in a crash on Old North Road in Waimauku on Wednesday night was 17-year-old Isobel Toman, police said.


Thursday, 19 December 2019 – 6:09pm | Canterbury
Name release – Fatal Crash, Elephant Hill, South Canterbury
Police are now in a position to release the name of the person who died in a crash off Clarkesfield Road at Elephant Hill in South Canterbury on Friday 29 November.
He was Thomas Jacob Goodman, 29, of Waimate.

Name release – Tokomaru Bay homicide investigation
Police are now in a position to name the man found in the burning lounge of his Tokomaru Bay home in the early hours of December 15.
He was 48-year-old Raymond Karl Neilson, and Police continue to investigate the circumstances of his death.

Have you seen Petr Mandik?
Police are asking for assistance to locate 50-year-old Petr Mandik [a Czech national,] who has not been seen since travelling to Mount Cook National Park on Friday 13 December.
Petr’s silver Nissan Tiida has been located at Tasman Valley carpark.
He planned to walk Ball Pass Route to Haast Ridge, from there he would climb to Plateau Hut and on to Mount Cook via Zurbriggen Ridge before returning to Christchurch.
Petr did not make his flight from Christchurch Airport on Wednesday 18 December.

Have you seen Alexander Gaitzsch?
Police are asking for assistance to locate 24-year-old German tourist Alexander Fabrice Gaitzsch, who has been reported missing.
Alexander was last seen in Auckland on Sunday December 1 after arriving in New Zealand.
He has brown hair, is around 170cm tall and of a slim build.

It is thought Alexander maybe in the Waikato river trails area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police on 105.

Fatal crash, Ruatoria
Emergency services were notified around 7:40pm of a fatal crash on Te Araroa Road/SH 35, on the Rotokautuku Bridge near Ruatoria.
It involved a single vehicle that rolled off the road, and the sole occupant died at the scene.

Fatal crash on Kawatiri-Murchison Highway
One person has died following a crash on Kawatiri-Murchison Highway this afternoon.
The crash occurred at 4.10pm and involved a truck and ute.
The deceased person was travelling in the ute.

Name release – Fatal Crash, Waimate
Police are now in a position to release the name of the person who died in a crash on Timaru Road, Waimate, on Saturday 16 November.
He was Shanan Bruce Nelson, 28, of Waimate.

One person has died following a serious crash at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Rangitata Island Road near Ealing, just south of the Rangitata River.

Serious crash, Te Kauwhata
Emergency services are at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Waerenga Road, near Kiwi Road, Te Kauwhata.
Police were called about 3pm.
The sole occupant of the car has been found deceased.
