The 3 tourists were killed in two separate incidents

Two female tourists were killed near Franz Josef Glacier, while a third visitor allegedly fell to his death in Kahurangi National Park on Friday

The bodies of a 20-year-old Chinese woman and a 23-year-old Malaysian woman were recovered from the Waiho river early this morning.

“The river was not deep, it was low flow, but there was also a combination of darkness, dirty water coming straight from the glacier, lots of bolders, and super cold, ” said the search team who found the bodies.

“John Leo Hannah, 63, was tramping with two others in the Adelaide Tarn area of the park last night, when he slipped on difficult terrain and fell 20 metres to his death, Senior Sergeant Stu Koefoed of Nelson police said.”

“Police are speaking to the members of the tramping party to ascertain the full circumstances relating to the death of Mr Hannah and will then refer the matter to the Coroner.”

The deaths happened after a 61-year-old man from Nelson fell and hurt his leg while tramping in Kahurangi National Park and had to be rescued by a Helicopter Friday morning, according to another report.

On average, 3 foreigners are killed in New Zealand every 4 days.

The three tourists were the 2,300th – 2,302nd foreigners to be murdered/ killed in New Zealand since January 2000.

Fletcher FU24  skydiving aircraft burst into flames shortly after takeoff near the Fox Glacier on New Zealand’s South Island killing all 9 people onboard.

New Zealand Death Clock started ticking for the 4 dead tourists the moment they booked their New Zealand holiday. They were among the 9 people killed when their skydiving plane crashed at an airstrip near Fox Glacier on the west coast of South Island.  Photo credit: Christchurch Press. • Annita Kirsten, 23, from Germany
  • Patrick Byrne, 26, from County Wexford, Ireland

In October 1994, seven people were killed when a Helicopter Line Squirrel helicopter on a sightseeing flight crashed in a mountainous area near Fox Glacier,” according to a report.

New Zealand occupies positions 1 to 7 of the world’s 10 Worst Holiday Destinations because…

  • Exposure to deadly chemicals
  • Exposure to viral infections
  • Unsanitary food, accommodation
  • Exposure to sewage contaminated beaches and waterways
  • Little or NO access to even rudimentary medical facilities in the case of record numbers of deadly road crashes, and inordinate number of deaths and near-fatal injuries caused by using defective equipment for climbing, tramping, paragliding, bungy jumping, skiing, canoeing, diving and all other mountain, snow, water sports and outdoor activities
  • Deadly roads!
  • Defective, old, poorly maintained rental cars, quad-bikes, jet skis, and all other sports equipment
  • Inadequate or NO supervision in venues where extreme sports are touted
  • [Unfit, unqualified instructors or otherwise those operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs]
  • Little or NO warning posted in dangerous  places and unsafe areas that pose a life threat, or serious injuries, to the visitors, but are invariably advertised as “popular hot spots” to lure unsuspecting foreign visitors

Weather wreaks havoc in New Zealand

A “weather bomb” lashed the North Island Friday night damaging buildings, uprooting trees and cutting power to thousands of homes.

A weather forecaster described it as  a “pretty rough 24 hours, especially up north. At about 3am or 4am in Whangarei it was incredibly stormy.”

“Wind and rain began on Friday night and continued for much of yesterday, felling trees and lifting tarpaulins off homes in Kaitaia damaged by a tornado two weeks ago.”  According to a report.

“Four boatsheds at Northland’s Kissing Point were badly damaged by high winds early yesterday.”

Gisborne area was flooded by heavy rain and a massive landslide near Tolaga Bay made things worse.

Christchurch Airport was struck by an eerie fog which brought it to a standstill Saturday, with many flights delayed or diverted to Auckland.

At least two dozen accidents in Auckland were blamed on the weather.
