Couple forced to leave New Zealand Town

Showdown in Kaikoura: “There’s a lot of viciousness.”

Couple in their 50s violently assaulted by locals and forced to leave town

The couple who moved to New Zealand some years ago say they were treated like new emigrants. They were viciously assaulted and threatened to leave Kaikoura.

A couple in their 50s have put their Kaikoura home on the market and moved to Christchurch after a violent assault and an anonymous note warning them to “get out”.

Paula Irvine-Boag talked yesterday about her experiences in the town after reading about two recent street assaults.

Ms Irvine-Boag, 54, and her partner, Tony Neumann, 53, moved to Kaikoura in 2008.

However, they said they soon encountered hostility from some born-and-bred residents who treated them as outsiders.

Ms Irvine-Boag said their neighbour refused to speak to them, while pavement signs for her business were repeatedly moved.

“You can be there 40 or 50 years and you’re still not accepted,” she said.

“There’s a lot of viciousness.”

The final straw was a violent attack that left her partner needing stitches to his mouth and lip.

[…] After what felt like a long, “very cold” winter, the couple put their house on the market and moved to Christchurch, vowing they would “never return to live in Kaikoura”.  More …

“Meanwhile, the mother of a man and woman who were in a group of six assaulted in Kaikoura early on Monday said the family’s Christmas had been ruined.”

“That one night has changed our whole family,” she said.

“My son has been beaten so bad. Who is going to pay his bills when he is lying around because he cannot work? He cannot eat, he cannot play with his daughter.”

The woman, whose family did not want to be identified for fear of retaliation, said she had not slept much since learning of the attack.

New Zealand Crime Rates Climb, Again

Posted by te2ataria on October 1, 2009

The Only Certainty in New Zealand: Crime Rates Always Climb

“Reported crime has increased for the second year in a row, but police solved more cases, according to figures released today.” News headlines said.

That must be a relief, especially to the victims of murder and rape. “… err… you already know the bad news; but the  good news is, we have found your murderer!”

Sexual offenses, drug crimes, violence and family violence are up up up!

The number of homicides was down from 111 to 92 in the year to the end of June, police said. [Mainly because they are unreported, or the figures are doctored.

Some 442,540 offenses were recorded compared with 426,690 the previous year, an increase of 3.7 percent. Imagine the increase, if all crimes were recorded, and we aren’t talking about petty crimes, either.

“However, New Zealand’s population increased by about 1 percent which meant the offence rate per head of population increased by 2.8 percent.”

Well that’s yet another relief, given that the 1 percent increase is mainly the unemployable kiwis returning to the country.

of the 12 police districts at least 9 experienced [reported] increases in the total number of crimes [that they bothered, or were allowed to report].

For the second year the number of resolved crimes increased. Police resolved 212,038 offences, up from 200,389 last year, to increase the resolution rate from 47 to 47.9 percent.

That is fiction of course, given that the police can’t travel in a police car for more than an average of 3.7 miles without crashing their vehicle.

Violence rose 7 percent, on top of an increase last year of 11.1 percent. It was driven almost entirely by increased recording and reporting of family violence.

Go on weasel-word your way out of that one too. and so they did:

Although it increased 28.8 percent last year, this year the increase in reported family violence was just 13.5 percent.

“We believe this is due to the work that has gone into reducing tolerance of family violence, and the devastation it causes to our families,” Assistant Commissioner Grant Nicholls said.

“As tolerance in the community falls people will report family violence more readily. Also, the mandatory training which all front line staff received in 2007 in identifying families at risk has resulted in more recording of these events.”

Assistant Commissioner Grant Nicholls, you are liar!

The number of homicides decreased 17.1 percent and robbery by 5.1 percent.

Do you honestly expect us to believe this, when, on average several bodies are found on the streets of New Zealand cities? And a note to our regular readers:

Do you see why the police says the “death was not suspicious,”  every time they find a body in New Zealand?

They do it for two reasons:

1. When  the police records a death as “unsuspicious,”  it will remain so on their records, even if someone says it was a murder and confesses to the crime.

2. New Zealand coroners are instructed NOT to challenge the police’s findings about the cause of death [even though it’s the job of the coroner to determine the cause of death!!!]

There were 92 offences in the homicide category in the last year; down from 111 the previous year, with 91 resolved

Now that’s what doctoring the figures is all about. New Zealand’s financial figures, road deaths, rape numbers, poverty stats … are all doctored like the report.
