According to the perfidious pakeha at the Ministry of Transport the road toll for 2008 was 359.

According to our contact, one of a handful of “pious pakeha,” the actual figure was 557 kills.

Just How Many?

In 2000, the number of New Zealand road accidents causing injuries was 7,447. In 2006, the figure rose to 10,738 – the highest since 1995. Statistics provided by the Ministry of Transport [often economical with the truth] show that in the same period, the number of hospitalizations also rose by about a quarter (25%), to 7,427. (Source)

The Moderators estimate that the number of road accidents causing injuries was about 15,000 in 2007. However the exact figure may never be revealed by New Zealand un-authorities.

According to Land Transport NZ, the road kills for the last 12 months, as at 16 Jul 2008, were 412, nearly 3 percent higher than same period last year. In all probability, however, the LTNZ figures too have been doctored. The actual figures may be a lot higher, but we’ll never know for sure what the exact numbers were!

The Moderators also estimate that tourists visiting New Zealand could account for as many as 50 to 60 percent of all casualties. But, other than the NZ govt., victims and their families, no one else may ever know the extent of this “accidental” butchery.

When is an “accident” not an accident?

In all probability, as with the rental cars in New Zealand, the quad bikes are NOT properly maintained or serviced. It doesn’t take much for a poorly maintained car, quad bike, ski jet, airplane … to go out of control.

To establish the real cause, the death of each visitor in New Zealand must be investigated by NON-NZ independent experts.
