Myrtle rust: Number of infected properties rises to 12  — [Bad Karma]

Myrtle rust is a serious fungal disease that affects plants in the myrtle family. Plants in this family include pōhutukawa and mānuka. The first detection of the disease in mainland New Zealand was at a Northland nursery in early May 2017. The disease is likely to affect some of our iconic native plants as well as commercially-grown species.  [MPI]

Myrtle rust has been found in Kerikeri in Northland and in Waitara, Taranaki. It is also widespread on Raoul Island in the Kermadec group, about 1,100km to the north-east of New Zealand. Myrtle rust (Austropuccinia psidii) is also known as guava rust and eucalyptus rust. The fungus attacks various species of plants in the Myrtaceae family, also known as the myrtle family. It is found in many parts of the world including New Caledonia and all along Australia’s eastern seaboard. Myrtle rust spores are microscopic and can easily spread across large distances by wind, or via insects, birds, people, or machinery. Source: info@mpi.govt.nz

Myrtle rust fond on at least 12 properties

“Four further Taranaki properties have tested positive for myrtle rust, bringing the number of positive locations nationally to 12.

“At this time, the disease has only been recorded in 2 regions – Northland and Taranaki. 8 of the affected properties are plant nurseries or retailers/distributors, and it has been detected in four private gardens.

“This response is rapidly changing as large numbers of members of the public report through suspected finds. To date, Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has received some 380 reports of suspected symptoms through its 0800 number and the number of affected properties is expected to grow.”  http://www.mpi.govt.nz/news-and-resources/media-releases/myrtle-rust-response-media-update-22-may-2017/

Another bad karma cycle triggered: 17 percent of tertiary students can’t afford food —study

Nearly one in five (17 percent) of tertiary students are “regularly going without food or other necessities” because they cannot afford them, and a third considered dropping out “simply because of financial pressures,” according to a report citing a new study.

“More than half of all students and two thirds of Māori students said at some stage in the last year their income was not enough to cover their living costs.”

“A couple of years ago we were talking about students only living on two-minute noodles, what you see in this survey is that one in seven students can’t even afford those two-minute noodles,” said New Zealand University Students Association national president Jonathan Gee, adding he was surprised the survey showed conditions were getting worse.  Read more…

Why the government pressure to pass students who should be failed?
Because the students would spend about $4.5 billion on fees and living costs this year, making it New Zealand’s fourth largest export earner. Additionally, their family members who would come visiting spend another $1.5 billion or so in the country.

NZ Military Karma Zaps 4 Personnel on ANZAC Day

Posted by te2ataria on April 25, 2010

sent by a reader in Sewage City [Wellington]

Surprise, Surprise! It’s ANZAC Day Again!

No, it wasn’t necessarily NZ helicopter pilot incompetence, this time!

Ordinarily, one’s first thought might have been: how could these ace pilots go to war and come back alive if they couldn’t fly a helicopter a couple of blocks without crashing in the peace time?

But this wasn’t any ordinary time; it was ANZAC Day. And the NZ military’s collective bad  karma was out to get fresh blood.

A Before Photo

NZ Air Farce Iroquois helicopter seen “in action.” There have been four other reported crashes in the NZ Air Farce’s fleet of 14 Iroquois.

The crash forced Prime Minister Don Key to  cut his trip to Turkey short. NZ’s collective bad karma is probably eying him, too.

Don Key, who went to Turkey for Anzac Day commemorations, is now planning to return to New Zealand by Tuesday morning for the  air crews’ funerals, his office said.

“I am shocked and saddened by this tragic event. My thoughts are with the families of the victims, the family of the injured man, and the entire New Zealand Defence Force,” Don Key was reported as saying earlier today.

“To have this happen when the helicopter was heading to Wellington for an Anzac Day flypast is an absolute tragedy.

“I am sure that all New Zealanders will join with me in offering the families of the victims, and the Defence Force, our deepest condolences.”

Bullshit! If you didn’t think the soldiers are cannon fodder, why would you send them to Afghanistan?

Don Key attending the dawn service in Gallipoli today said.:

“This campaign stands in memory for New Zealand, as well as Australia, as playing an important part in fostering a sense of national identity,” he said.

“It is also important today for us to remember and commemorate the bravery and the sacrifice of all those who have served their nation at a time of war. In particular, to remember those who have not returned.

“Today we stand together in peace, former foes now old friends, united in honouring them.”

Until the next time.

Meanwhile,  “a vintage military truck mowed down six war veterans” during Anzac Day parade in Melbourne, Australia.

NY Widow Sues kiwi Crash Pilot Company

Posted by te2ataria on October 3, 2009

Widow of the small-plane pilot killed by kiwi piloted helicopter sues for wrongful death

The widow of the small-plane pilot killed after the plane was brought down by a helicopter piloted by a kiwi  man has filed a lawsuit for wrongful death.

The collision occurred when the helicopter piloted by a new Zealander, Jeremy Clark, 33,  approached from the side and under the small plane. The helicopter blades sliced through the wing of the small plane leading to a fatal crash that killed 9 people aboard the two aircraft, including Steven Altman, his brother and nephew, 4 Italian tourists and the incompetent helicopter pilot.

The federal lawsuit filed by Pamela Altman’s attorney in Philadelphia seeks about US$1.3 million (NZ$1.85 million) in damages.

Mrs Altman is suing Liberty Helicopters, the tour company, Meridian Consulting I, the helicopter owners as well as American Eurocopter, the manufacturers.

“Her suit says that Liberty and Meridian had a ‘horrid history of accidents’ and that American Eurocopter failed to equip the helicopter with sufficient safety equipment.” Associated Press reported.

Two years ago, another Liberty helicopter fell 150 meters into the Hudson river  while on  a sightseeing trip. However, the pilot in that incident was a qualified and competent pilot and managed to land safely and save the lives of seven passengers.

In yet another incident which reportedly occurred in Manhattan again in 1997, a rotor on one of Liberty’s  sightseeing helicopters clipped a  building, forcing an emergency landing. there were no injuries.

It’s not known whether Mrs Altman and families of other victims would sue also the dead NZ pilot’s estate for damages.

Collective kiwi Evil Karma Strikes Irish Publican

Posted by te2ataria on September 22, 2009

One Again, Collective kiwi Evil Karma (CKEK), aka the Curse of Hinenui-te-pō, Strikes a Foreigner

kiwi woman named as Ilana James, from Waikato, New Zealand,  finally collected her Irish husband’s body from a Laos river three days after he was drowned.

Michael O’Sullivan, 39, an Irish publican, “got into difficulty after a river ‘tubing’ ride with his wife Ilana James, 29, and 18 other holidaymakers.” NZ advertising media reported.

“Mr O’Sullivan and Ms James from Raglan, had been enjoying a belated honeymoon backpacking around Asia after marrying last November, the Evening Herald in Dublin reported. ”

They couple had planned their “Asian honeymoon,” which ended in a tragedy, “to renew their vows in the presence of Mrs O’Sullivan’s mother in New Zealand.”

The couple went on the “tubing adventure” on the Nam Xong river in Vang Vieng, in the north of Laos, last Thursday.

Their “tub” was capsized in the river, “and locals had to use ropes and sticks to rescue them.”

Mr O’Sullivan was the only “adventurer” not to be rescued. His body was finally recovered on Monday, about 36 hours after he was drowned.

Mr O’Sullivan’s New Zealand Death Clock had started ticking the moment he met his future kiwi wife in England.

Foul play?

The Family of pakeha Crushed to Death in Sussex Garbage Truck Cry “Foul Play”

The family of a Hamilton man who was reportedly crushed to death in a garbage truck in Brighton, England say his death was  sinister.

Scott Williams, 35, reported fell asleep in a large wheelie bin after a night out drinking with pals in Brighton, UK. His body was found in a rubbish skip at a recycling center in Sussex on Monday.

Questions:

  • Would pakeha drink to the point of passing out?
  • Would pakeha with a “wicked sense of humor” find it amusing to pass out in a garbage bin?

williams
Crushed to death in a garbage truck:  Scott Williams had been out with friends in Brighton, England.

Mr Williams’ mother, Marion, who lives in Pukete, Hamilton, insists her son would never climb into a garbage bin.

“It’s just not right what they’re saying,” she said. “We don’t believe that he would ever go into a bin.”

“[His brother Tony] can’t believe [why police] won’t suspect foul play. [Police] have no coverage of the bin or anywhere he was after he escorted a female to a taxi at 3am.”

His sister, Jolene, 34, who also lives in Hamilton, says she s not believe her brother would climb into a garbage bin.

“We just can’t believe it,” she was quoted as saying. “It’s a huge shock to us and want to have him home so we can put closure to it really.”

“Mr Williams, a former Waikato swimming champ and student at Hamilton’s Fraser High School, had been living and working as a teacher in London since 2000.” Waikato Times said.

According to the paper Sussex police has said they were treating Mr Williams’ death as “unexplained rather than suspicious.”

Crystal Ball

Maybe the family is right. Perhaps, the death was sinister. Can’t look this one in the crystal ball.

It was a shocking death, no doubt about it. You wouldn’t wish that sort of fate to befall even to your worst enemy.  Maybe someone(s) who had a loved one murdered, or seriously injured, in New Zealand decided it was payback time. Has the name of the game changed from collective punishment to something else?

Perhaps, the family should view their loss in the same way as do families of hundreds of foreigners who are violently murdered, raped, beaten to near death… in New Zealand each  year. Think of the families of the victims who had their heads chopped off with a spade, their skulls crushed, stabbed and left to bleed to death…

May be there were other reasons, too, for Scott Williams’s death. We may never find out.

The facts are that he won’t be the last pakeha to die of a violent death. There is simply too much COLLECTIVE BAD KARMA stacked up against them.

Keep your eyes peeled for headline news. Often you find individuals die of similarly violent deaths. When that happens, you’d know instinctively they, too, had faced COLLECTIVE BAD KARMA.

Bad Karma: Drought threatens NZ economy

Posted by te2ataria on January 21, 2009

A Rain Prayer for New Zealand: Lord, send us  lots of rain this year, AND let us have all of it before the end of January!

NZ farmers fear the risk of a drought will compound  the country’s economic woes  as the summer temperatures begin to soar.

The ailing NZ economy could be made worse by an agricultural industry affected by drought. Photo/Hawke’s Bay Today. Image may be subject to copyright.

Local economists believe the drought last year triggered  the country’s recession, and are worried that the gloomy forecasts for this year would make things a lot worse.

Pastoral agriculture is  a main component of New Zealand economy and persisting droughts, like last year’s,  can dramatically reduce the GDP, Westpac economist Doug Steel said. More…

A Warning to Australians:

Apartheid New Zealand may be about to receive a one-finger salute from God!

To avoid a nightmare scenario, Australians are well advised to demand pakeha bring their own food and drink, and hold the lot of them in quarantine in NSW, Victoria and Tasmania!
