The vague and confusing reasons we’ll never know exactly where the wage subsidy is going
Katie Kenny 09:17, Jun 11 2020
ANALYSIS: The Government has talked up the transparency of its $11b Covid-19 wage subsidy scheme. But if you want to see a list of every recipient, you’re out of luck. Even half of them? Nope.

The illusion of transparency has been created by an online search tool that allows members of the public – and stickybeak journalists – to look up a company’s name and see whether it’s received the subsidy.

But the search engine returns only five results at a time. Stuff – and other media – sought the full list. It seemed a straightforward request. We only wanted what the Government had already made public, just in a different form.

Days went by and it became clear the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) could not, or would not, provide the list. Why?

“We designed the tool with close involvement from the Privacy Commissioner to ensure compliance with the Privacy Act,” said Nadine Kilmister, a deputy chief executive at the ministry, in a statement.
[…]
For valid privacy reasons, total transparency will never be possible. But to refuse to provide even a redacted list of recipients falls well short of the insight taxpayers deserve.

ECONOMIC IMPACT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON “AGGRESSOR” NATIONS

About 1.542 million Americans filed jobless claims for the week ended June 6, the Labor Department said.
A total of more than 47 million applications for unemployment benefits have been submitted since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March, government records show, a number that dwarfs even unemployment figures in the Great Depression.

More than 50% of American families have been financially affected, experts say.

Coronavirus: UK economy could be among worst hit of leading nations, says OECD
The UK is likely to be the hardest hit by Covid-19 among major economies, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has warned.
Britain’s economy is likely to slump by 11.5% in 2020, slightly outstripping falls in countries such as Germany, France, Spain and Italy, it said.
If there were a second peak in the pandemic, the UK economy could contract by as much as 14%.

“The crisis will cast a long shadow over the world,” the OECD added.
It said that in what it called a “single-hit scenario”, with no second peak, there could be contractions of 11.4% in France, 11.1% in Spain, 11.3% in Italy and 6.6% in Germany.
In its latest assessment, the OECD found that the UK’s largely service-based economy meant that it had been particularly badly hit by the government’s lockdown restrictions.
The services sector, including financial services, hospitality and tourism, makes up about three-quarters of the UK’s GDP.

New Zealand’s economy among the worst hit by Covid-19 in OECD, new report warns
The organisation, made up of 37 leading economies, said Covid-19 had triggered “the most severe economic recession in nearly a century”.
The report paints two scenarios; one where the current wave of infections is the worst of the crisis and another where another wave of infections hits before the end of the year.
In either scenario New Zealand is likely to see a sharper economic contraction than most other members of the OECD, and a much larger hit than Australia.
Even if a second wave of global infections is avoided, the OECD predicts the New Zealand economy would shrink by 8.9 per cent in 2020, with only eight of the OECD’s 37 members contracting more.
If the global economy does see a second wave, New Zealand’s economy would shrink by 10 per cent, with 11 OECD economies taking a bigger hit.
In both scenarios, all of the economies expected to see a larger contraction than New Zealand are in Europe.
Australia meanwhile is expected to see a 5 per cent contraction this year or a 6.3 per cent hit if there is a second wave, with only South Korea facing a smaller hit.

World’s Deadliest Tourist Destination: Four bodies pulled from water in two days, fifth missing

Posted by te2ataria on February 9, 2020

Only in NZ: Two bodies found in Makarora River, one each on Ohope and Karioitahi beaches, fifth unaccounted for

Two trampers found dead in a South Island river is a “routine scenario”, despite the flagrant misrepresentations made by Conservation Minister Eugenie Sage.

First she lied by calling the incident, two trampers found dead in a South Island river, a “worst-case scenario”, despite the fact that thousands of visitors have been killed or seriously injured in NZ over the last two decades.

Sage reportedly told media on Sunday she was waiting to hear about the fate of a third person.

Then she lied again: “Police and emergency services will be doing everything in their power to find them.”

However, police have confirmed there was no search being conducted.

The victims had been hiking in the Mount Aspiring National Park—one of NZ’s top tourist deathtraps.

NZ is the World’s Deadliest Tourist Attraction: The Final Destination!

More than 40,000 foreigners have been violently killed, or seriously injured by NZ tourism machination since 2000. The Axis of Evil, however, prevents next waves of would-be victims from receiving warnings posted here.

How Bay of Plenty of Deaths Police Doubled Crash Fatality with Road Murder!

Posted by te2ataria on January 24, 2020

Attributed to Superintendent Andy McGregor, Bay of Plenty [of Deaths] District Commander, and his Blade Runners:

Friday, 24 January 2020 – 7:46am | Bay of Plenty [of Deaths]

“Fatal fleeing driver incident following serious crash, Rotokawa”

“One person has died following a fleeing driver incident at Rotokawa, near Taupō, early this morning.

“The incident took place after a vehicle driving dangerously near a fatal crash scene failed to stop for Police.

“At about 11.40pm, emergency services were called to a single-vehicle crash on Broadbands Road, near Centennial Drive.

“The vehicle left the road and rolled through a paddock before colliding with a tree.

“The driver and sole occupant died at the scene.

“At about 1.20am, while Police were conducting a scene examination, another vehicle was observed travelling at high speed and overtaking an unmarked Police vehicle as it approached the crash site and the road closure cordons. [The action really hurt the macho blade runners’ feelings. –Moderator]

“To ensure the safety of staff working at the scene, Police attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver then fled from Police.

“Police followed the vehicle for less than 30 seconds before it crashed through a fence.  [Police blade runners shunted the “fleeing car” from behind and forced it out of the road, as per routine police practice. –Moderator, under advisement from police insiders.]

“One of the two occupants died following the crash.

“Another sustained moderate injuries.”

Malaysian Family Decimated in New Zealand Fatal Crash – fourth member dies

by NZPW

Those killed in Kaikōura triple fatal crash were a Malaysian couple, Dr Rumihati Abd Hamid, a 49-year-old family physician, her husband Adnan Jeman, also 49, and one of their three daughters. [Their daughters are aged 15, 13, and 11.]

NZ police shoot and murder ‘popular’ man in his home

Posted by te2ataria on December 6, 2019

On December 4, 2019: Police add another feather in their chase-to-kill cap!

Blog estimate: 80 times as many people are killed by NZ police during “routine” work as are by ALL of the criminal gangs combined.

Lethal Weapons 1,247 – Police carve another notch on their murder weapons

Another false testimony by NZ police

Now, bearing in mind the only living eye-witnesses are the murderous police officers, read the following version reported by MSM:

“A man shot dead after [allegedly] pulling a gun on police in a small South Island town was a popular and respected local.

“Police were called to Kurow, in the Waitaki district near Oamaru in North Otago, late on Thursday night, after a man threatened to hurt himself. They shot the man, aged in his 60s, after he [allegedly] brandished a gun at officers.”

“Southern Police acting district commander Inspector Darryl Sweeney was unable to comment on whether the weapon was loaded, but confirmed it was held and presented at police,” the report said.

“>He added it was unclear if a physical or verbal threat was made to the three attending officers…”

To THE UNITED NATIONS and HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS

According to NZ police reports, some of which are linked to on this blog,  hundreds of people, both motorists and pedestrians, receive critical injuries in road crashes each year. The unnamed victims mysteriously disappear without a trace, bar few exceptions. We find the disappearances extremely disturbing.
YOU MUST INVESTIGATE!

Police “resurrect” dead drivers!

Nearly ALL fatal collisions on NZ roads are initially reported by police as “serious crashes” resulting in “serious injuries”. Subject to police investigation, dead motorists remain  “seriously injured” until they can establish the number and quality of witnesses in each incident. Where there’s little or no likelihood of the news leaking, the dead motorists are permanently classified as “seriously injured”, with all traces leading to the incidents removed and buried. And, of course, sometimes police get it wrong!

IF police aren’t misreporting the majority of road fatalities as “serious injuries”, THEN why NZ hospitals aren’t brimming with thousands of road injury patients?

NZ government (police and Ministry of Resurrection) under-report road fatalities and murders in the same way Puerto Rican officials (US Govt) misled the world following Hurricane Maria. Death toll from the deadly storm was reported at only 64, instead of the scientifically researched total of at least 2,975.

In NZ, about two-thirds of road fatalities go unreported, or unrecorded to protect the cutthroat tourism and banking. [See blog entries under Ministry of Resurrection.]

The Final Destination: Two More Australian Women Killed in NZ

Posted by te2ataria on November 11, 2019

Two Australian tourists killed in a head-on collision with a truck south of Christchurch

Two female Australian visitors were violently killed when their car collided head-on with a truck on State Highway 1 south of Christchurch, a report said.

The victims were reportedly travelling south in a rental car “when they veered into the path of an oncoming TNL Freighting truck on State Highway 1 at Bankside corner, north of the Rakaia River on Sunday.”

The two victims who were killed in the crash had landed in Christchurch that morning before taking the rental car, a policeman was cited as saying.

Two other tourists, a Singaporean couple named as Ms Rena Ong, 29, and Mr Chen Zhi Hao, 38, were killed nearby in a similar fatal incident in 2017.

“Seven other people suffered minor injuries in the crash, including four people in another car that was hit by debris.”

[Please note: Many of the rental cars available to the tourists visiting NZ are road unworthy. Editor]

On behalf of all decent Kiwis, the blog moderators sincerely apologise to the family and friends of the two victims for their tragic but avoidable “road-murder” in New Zealand.  We urge all foreign travellers to reconsider their travel plans before visiting our dangerous country.

The money you spend in New Zealand helps to enrich the predatory establishment as the levels of national poverty continue to worsen.

We’d respectfully advise all would be visitors that transporting your body from NZ back to your country would be very expensive – money your family have to find quickly.

New Zealand is the World’s Deadliest Tourist Attraction — The Final Destination.

More than 5,000 foreigners—overseas visitors international students, foreign workers and new immigrants from more than 60 countries—have been killed/murdered and 30,000 others seriously injured in New Zealand since January 2000. At least 98 percent of the casualties would’ve been avoidable, if the cutthroat, ultra-racist, white supremacist slaughterhouse gave a f*ck. [Updated January 2019]

∇Singapore Couple Violently Killed in Crash
On Thursday (May 4) two young Singapore nationals were violently killed when their rental van collided with an ute on State Highway 1 south of Dunsandel, about 40km southwest of Christchurch.  Ms Rena Ong and Mr Chen Zhi Hao were employees at technology firm Crestro, said the Strait Times.

NZ police had previously identified the victims incorrectly as 29-year old Ms Ong See Yee and 38-year-old Mr Chin Tze Hau.

They were killed in record time for foreign visitors arriving in New Zealand of about three hours.  Previous record was held by a French victim, Remi Morilleau, 27, who was killed in just under four hours after landing in Auckland airport.

Two more Samoans were killed violently in New Zealand and a third man remains in a critical condition after a head-on crash on State Highway 1 north of Christchurch on Sunday.

The victims were Tauvale Ene, 40, and Sione Faraimo, 30, “who were in a south-bound station wagon, collided with a north-bound ute towing a trailer near Pa Rd, south of Woodend,” a report said.

“The two men in the ute, believed to be brothers, were flown in a rescue helicopter to Christchurch Hospital. A Canterbury District Health Board spokeswoman said one of the men was in a critical condition and the other was in a stable condition.”
