The House Pig Appointed Foreign Affairs Minister

Don Inglese [“Bill English”] has appointed his Fat Capo [“Gerry Brownlee”] foreign affairs minister, a report said.

The insensitive ham-head had previously commented that Finnish people are uneducated and disrespectful to women, sparking outrage and making headlines in the European nation, said a report.

The ignoramus also made headlines accusing North Korea of having “evil intent” and making “outrageous threats,” most recently against Australia. [How’s that for reflex!?]

Don Inglese likes this thing because he looks like a fat, “cuddly” pig, or because his stupid comments make the Don and everyone else in the govt mafia look like intellectuals? Photo credit: ANDY JACKSON/FAIRFAX NZ

.

Other Capos, including Health Minister Jonathan Coleman, Attorney-General Chris Finlayson and Mitchell are still “in the mix along with Brownlee for the foreign affairs job but speculation around Parliament was if Brownlee wanted it, the job was his.”

Before the promotion, he held no fewer than FIVE ministerial portfolios including Civil Defence, Defence Minister, Greater Christchurch Regeneration Minister,  Leader of the House – Minister, and Earthquake Commission – Minister Responsible.

Deaths of civilians in contact with police
“Deaths of civilians in contact with police have recently gained national public and policy attention. While journalists track police-involved deaths,1 epidemiologic data are incomplete,2,3 and trends in nonfatal injuries, which far outnumber deaths, are poorly understood. The International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification, includes external cause-of-injury codes identifying injuries owing to contact with law enforcement (E970-E978). Using these codes, prior studies have identified 715 118 nonfatal injuries, 3958 hospitalizations, and 3156 deaths between 2003 and 2011 from US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data and the Nationwide Inpatient Sample,4 and 55 400 fatal and nonfatal injuries in 2012 from the Vital Statistics mortality census, Nationwide Inpatient and Emergency Department Samples, and journalists’ reports.5 In this study, we used a nationally representative database to determine whether the incidence of emergency department (ED) visits for injures by law enforcement increased relative to total ED visits from 2006 to 2012. We assessed demographic and clinical characteristics of visits for law enforcement–associated injury.”  https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamasurgery/article-abstract/2619243

10 fatal crashes short of $4.5billion

Heavily Censored Police Road Fatality Reports

  • Friday’s Update: ONLY ONE vehicle-related fatality report allowed by police today, as of posting, despite multiple serious crashes that have been reported locally.
  • Thursday’s Update: ONE vehicle-related fatality report  (second cyclist killed by a truck in two days) allowed by police, as of posting.

-oo-8-oo-

NZ’s road crash costs just a dozen or so fatal crashes shy of $4.5b [but how accurate are those official figures?]

Total social cost of motor vehicle injury crashes in 2015 was about $3.79 billion, at June 2016 prices, according to the Ministry of Transport (Minitru).

In addition, there are an estimated 220,460 non-injury crashes, valued at a further $0.66 billion. This gives a total social cost of all motor vehicle crashes in 2015 of $4.45 billion (increased from $4.13 billion in 2014). These estimates include the costs associated with both reported and [estimated] non-reported cases, and allegedly covers all injuries recorded by NZ Police, hospitals and ACC.

Loss of life/ life quality due to permanent impairments accounted for approximately 91 per cent of the total social cost of injury crashes, while vehicle damage accounted for about five percent with other costs accounting  for the remaining four percent.

Average Social Cost per Reported  Crash:

  • Fatal: $4.73 million
  • Serious: $912,000
  • Minor: $99,000

Average Social Cost per Reported Injury:

  • Fatal: $4,180,000
  • Serious: 776,000
  • Minor: 77,000

Guria (1995) estimated that the number of non-injury crashes is 8.4 times the number of minor injury crashes.

P Nation: meth contamination making more NZ houses uninhabitable

A three-bedroom stripped-down house in Titoki Place in Pukete (Hamilton) that was decontaminated of methamphetamine was sold at an auction for $410,000 on Wednesday.

The house in Lockwood, marketed as “previously contaminated”, had been stripped to bare walls and ceiling. “Pukete is an established suburb with an average house sale price of $542,800,” said a report.

“There is a problem right throughout New Zealand,” said estate agents Harcourts Hamilton general manager Brian King.

“An experiment done in Auckland proved that nearly all banknotes tested positive for meth. Yet a public emergency wasn’t declared and the notes weren’t burnt but these were at the same levels that houses were being tested at and people being told to get out of their houses,” said Dr Nick Kim, Massey University environmental chemistry senior lecturer.

“The Ministry of Health’s recommended benchmark for a clean-up was 0.5 micrograms per 100 square centimetres, for where the drug had been manufactured, 1.5 micrograms where the drug had only been used in a carpeted area and 2.0 micrograms where it had been used in an uncarpeted area,” said the report.

However, it’s unclear how anyone could establish with any degree of certainty whether the previous occupiers manufactured the drug, or just used it.

The Impact of Respiratory Disease in New Zealand: 2016 Update

About one in six New Zealanders live with a respiratory illness, and the rate is rising, with latest estimates showing the cost to the country has hit more than $6 billion a year.”

The Impact of Respiratory Disease in New Zealand: 2016 Update, commissioned by the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation, found that respiratory disease accounted for one in 10 overnight hospitalisations and highlighted the high degree of socio-economic and ethnic inequality as “by far the most relentless and disturbing pattern”.

The report found respiratory hospitalisations had been increasing by 16.4 admissions a year since 2000 but at a sharper rate since 2008.

It also estimated the economic burden to the country was at least $6.16b in 2013. Of that $5.68b were indirect costs from mortality and disability and the remaining $482.1m were direct costs from hospitalisations, prescriptions and doctors’ visits. Asthma was calculated separately with a total cost of $858.2m.

Massive amount of meth found in the sewers
The National Drug Intelligence Bureau (NDIA) found about 800g of methamphetamine each week in one wastewater treatment plants in Christchurch and 730g in Auckland last month, according to their latest data release.

Cocaine and MDMA were also among Other drugs found in the two cities’ sewers.

However, their report has most likely been doctored by the authorities because the data are inconsistent with the results of similar tests conducted by a team of two universities.

In  2014,  a team from Massey University and University of Queensland tested the city’s wastewater to find out about Aucklanders’ drug habits. Daily samples taken from only two wastewater treatment plants in Auckland over a three-month period found  an average of 600 grams of pure methamphetamine each day.

Green MP calling on Government funds to divest from palm oil company involved in labour abuse allegations

Many millions dollars have been invested by Government superannuation funds in international palm oil companies, including Wilmar International, a Singapore based company “embroiled in allegations of labour abuse on some of its Indonesian plantations.”

The Green Party has called on the New Zealand Superannuation Fund and Government Superannuation Fund – two of the Government’s three largest investment funds – to cut ties with Wilmar International after receiving information showing around $7 million is currently invested.

Figures provided to the Green Party and the Herald showed the NZ Superannuation Fund, ACC Investment Fund, and Government Superannuation Fund have $22 million tied up in four foreign palm oil companies linked to the illegal burning and devastation of Indonesian rainforests. The companies are: Genting Bhd, IJM Corp Berhad, Posco, and Daewoo.

“The NZ Superannuation Fund continues to invest and profit in companies linked to illegal rainforest destruction in Indonesia and has knowingly done so since 2014,” said Green Party conservation spokesperson Mojo Mathers.

“Norway’s $900 billion pension fund documented and publicly reported in 2014 and again in 2015 on the ‘severe environmental damage’ these companies were causing in Indonesia, leading it to sell its investments after two years of unsuccessful engagement.”

  • More than 2 million NZers were “unwitting” investors in big tobacco companies and makers of banned weapons

In total, New Zealanders were found to have $102m invested in tobacco companies, with more than half of this stake made by one fund provider – ANZ, and its OneAnswer funds. The Herald analysis ranked the ANZ pair as having invested the highest proportion of client funds into blacklisted assets.

[…] three KiwiSaver providers had made investments worth a total of $2.3m in a trio of United States companies – Textron and General Dynamics – blacklisted by the NZSF due to their production of cluster bombs.

New Zealand signed an international treaty banning such weapons, and in 2009 passed enabling legislation specifically forbidding investments in such companies. [Clearly paying lip service.]

Funds managed by Westpac, AMP and Aon hold shares in three companies.

In October, the Herald reported how the three big Government funds had a combined $21 million tied up in four palm oil companies that were dropped by the world’s biggest state pension fund after a report found an unacceptable risk of “severe environmental damage”.

Kiwis failing drug tests, that’s why we need more migrants: PM from Hell

Only three vehicle-related fatality reports allowed so far today!

It never occurred to the CORRUPT Prime Minister to address the drug problem that is destroying the country…

The young Kiwis failing workplace drug tests won’t just go away. They will replace the current generations of murderers, rapists, car thieves and burglars. And that’s why the addicts are needed. They enrich the establishment’s mega pushers, and promote the need for a dysfunctional police state.

PM defends net migration levels, says foreign workers needed because Kiwis failing drug tests

English defended the latest increase in net migration today and said he was not looking at curbing demand, despite 140,000 New Zealanders being out of work.

Speaking at his weekly press conference, English said the Government was still getting “robust” complaints from businesses that they could not fill vacancies, especially the hospitality and horticulture industries.

Asked why jobless New Zealanders could not fill these roles, English said: “One of the hurdles these days is just passing a drugs test.

Prime Minister from Hell: Bill English. I’m the frigging Prime Minister. It’s not my job to feed the poor, house the homeless, educate the stupid, or solve the drug problem. I’m here to look after the interests of the super wealthy and grant citizenship to Internet pirates and other international criminals. Photo credit: WARWICK SMITH/FAIRFAX NZ
