Israeli navy illegally detains Green Party MP Marama Davidson, 12 other women

Israel must release Green MP and peace activists

Israeli navy has illegally boarded a boat carrying 13 female activists, including Green MP Marama Davidson and Irish Nobel peace prize laureate Mairead Maguire.

Leader of Greens NZ Metiria Turei MP said on Thursday:

The Green Party is calling on Israel to swiftly release Green MP Marama Davidson and other members of the Women’s Peace Flotilla who have been intercepted in international waters off the coast of Gaza.

Green Party MP Marama Davidson joined the women’s peace boat in late September to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Green Party said.

Davidson left New Zealand in September to join 12 others in the Women’s Peace Flotilla, intended to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

An Israeli naval ship has illegally intercepted the boat in international waters, forcing it off course, according to reports.

“Early this morning all contact with the Zaytouna-Oliva was lost and the Israeli Occupation Navy has illegally surrounded it in international waters.”

The boat was “redirected by the Israeli Navy in order to prevent a breach of the lawful maritime blockade”, the Israeli military has said in a statement.

In 2010, Israeli commandos stormed the Mavi Marmara, the flagship of a flotilla of vessels crewed by peace activists, murdering at least ten civilians including nine Turks and an American, and injuring more than 50 others.

Green Party co-leader: Release Davidson, End the Illegal  Gaza Blockade

Green Party co-leader Metiria Turei said the Israelis must release Davidson and the rest of the crew immediately, and end the illegal blockade of Gaza.

“This inhumane blockade has been in place for a decade, resulting in plummeting living standards and health services, high unemployment, and severe food insecurity for the people of Gaza.

“More aid is urgently needed to help rebuild the homes, public services and livelihoods that were destroyed in 2014 in the war between Israel and Hamas.”

“Women around the world bear a disproportionate burden in caring for people and keeping communities together in times of hardship, and the women of Palestine are no different.”

Green Party MP Marama Davidson joined the women’s peace boat in late September to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Green Party said.

Israel has blockaded the Gaza strip by land, sea, and air since 2006, resulting in plummeting living standards and health services, high unemployment, and severe food insecurity, according to the United Nations.

“I am participating in the Women’s Boats to Gaza flotilla to highlight the crucial role of women in keeping their communities afloat, particularly in post-conflict situations,” said Green Party human rights spokesperson Marama Davidson.

“The people of Gaza are still living with the terrible impact of the 2014 war between Israel and Hamas, which resulted in the death of 2,300 civilians and the destruction of hundreds of thousands of homes, schools and hospitals.

“As an indigenous woman myself, I want to stand alongside the women of Gaza and to draw attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis there.

“Women around the world bear a disproportionate burden in caring for people and keeping communities together in times of hardship, and the women of Palestine are no different. Women’s role in navigating oppression and working for peace and justice has long been under-valued.

“More aid is urgently needed to ensure the fundamental human rights of the Palestinian people in Gaza and to help rebuild the homes, public services and livelihoods that were destroyed in 2014.

“We are calling on Israel to end the collective punishment of the people of Gaza by lifting the inhumane blockade and allowing more critical supplies to go where they are needed the most,” said Ms Davidson.

“Unfortunately, Spanish Judges have balls!”

Spanish Judge Jose de la Mata has issued an arrest warrant for the Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu over the deadly attack by IDF on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in 2010 that killed ten people,  according to a report.

Spanish judges have balls
Crimes against humanity: Mr Netanyahu and six former officials would be arrested if they set foot on Spanish soil.

The Freedom Flotilla aid ship Mavi Marmara, which was trying to bring supplies to Gaza during an an Israeli-imposed blockade, was attacked by Israeli Defense forces (IDF).

Nine activists were  killed  during the raid that occurred  in international waters, about 150km from Gaza, and one more died of wounds a week or so later.

Nine of the Turkish victims were killed with 30 bullets including five who were shot in the head at close-range, autopsies revealed.

Arrest warrants have also been issued for six other Israelis including ex-defense minister Ehud Barak, ex-foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman,  ex-deputy prime ministers Moshe Ya’alon and Eli Yishai, former state minister Benny Begin, and Israeli Navy commander (2007-2011) Aluf (Vice Admiral) Eliezer “Eli” Marom.

New Zealand Kills Another Israeli Soldier

Posted by te2ataria on March 20, 2009

No. of Israelis Killed in New Zealand in 2009 Exceeds the toll of Their Soldiers Killed by Friendly Fire in Gaza

An Israeli soldier visiting New Zealand was killed and five others received “serious or critical injuries” after a two-car collision on the Owaka Highway in South Otago, near the Finegand freezing works, about 8.50pm March 19, 2009.

“Or Eliyahu Ben-David” an Israeli soldier, 22, was reportedly the sole occupant of one of the cars, and the other five people were traveling in the other car believed to be in their late teens.

The dead man’s car, most probably a defective rental car, appeared to have gone out of control, crossing the center line,  and colliding with the other car.

It’s interesting to note that the families of Israeli citizens who are killed in New Zealand can successfully claim  substantially more damages than all other nationalities who lose a loved one in the country.

Additionally the identity of another dozen or so foreign tourists killed this year, including the two young Swedish women who were killed only hours after arriving in New Zealand, remain a closely-guarded state secret.
