Deadly eruption on White Island: Five fatalities confirmed, dozens injured, dozens more still missing

At least five visitors are killed, dozens injured and dozens more missing on the White Island, after the offshore NZ volcano erupted at a2.11pm local time, authorities have confirmed.

The conditions are too dangerous to look for survivors, a search and recovery person said.

“It didn’t look good” for anyone on the island, said Dan Harvey who was fishing off the coast of Bay of Plenty [of Deadly Eruptions.]

“A number of other people have been taken to hospital. A number of people have burns as a result of the eruption. It is still too early for police to confirm how many people are involved…including how many are still on the island.” — Senior police spokesperson

Update: Eruption on White Island – one fatality confirmed

Police statement: Monday, 9 December 2019 – 6:54pm | National News

The eruption occurred about 2:11pm.

“While it was initially believed there were approximately 100 people on or near the island at the time of the eruption, we now believe there were fewer than 50. [It’s unclear how police can be sure about the number of visitors on or near the island at the time of the eruption, but cannot count how many were taken to hospitals. Editor]

“There remain a number of people on the island who are unaccounted for.

“Both New Zealanders and overseas tourists are believed to be involved.

“At this stage, we can confirm there has been one fatality, and based on the information we have it is likely there are others.

“A number of injured people have been transported to Whakatane Hospital and Middlemore Hospital.” [Either police are incapable of counting numbers, or they’re planning to manipulate the casualty numbers, as per usual, from an early stage. Editor]

The Final Destination: Aussie Visitor No. XXXX Killed in New Zealand

Posted by te2ataria on December 7, 2019

Foreword: Hundreds of Aussies killed in NZ

Deaths of many foreigners in NZ, especially the Australian fatalities, go unreported. The fatalities are bad for business; therefore, police simply block and bury the details. However, where there are many credible witnesses, police are left with little option but to report the fatalities.

One of the latest examples was the  Aussie PhD student Shaun Hopkins, whose decomposing body was discovered at a Victoria University hall of residence in January 2018, but whose death was kept secret by police for 23 months until it was uncovered by a reporter.

  • Readers will note that only a tiny fraction of Murders, Road fatalities and Rapes are reported in New Zealand.
  • Starting December 2011, NZ government has again intensified its censorship of information concerning the foreigners killed in New Zealand to protect the cutthroat tourism and banking.
  • For every tourist killed in New Zealand at least SIX others are seriously/ critically injured. But somehow they disappear from the radar–their details are treated as State secrets, never to be released.

Australian hiker killed falling on Routeburn Track

The Australian visitor was one of the hundreds of foreign visitors who reached their “final destination in NZ” in recent years.

Here’s the police report marked: “Friday, 6 December 2019 – 9:40pm | Southern”

Hiker dies on Routeburn Track
“A hiker has died after falling on the Routeburn track today.
“Emergency services were called to the scene, between Lake McKenzie Hut and Routeburn Falls Hut, about 12.45pm.
“The hiker, a 70-year-old man from Australia, was reportedly seriously injured and a rescue helicopter was dispatched.
“A paramedic on-board the helicopter later confirmed he had died.
“Low cloud and high winds prevented the immediate recovery of the man’s body, however this was completed about 5.45pm with the assistance of Police and Search and Rescue volunteers from Queenstown.
“The man was part of a guided walking tour.”

More than 5,000 foreigners have been violently killed and 30,000 others seriously injured in NZ since 2000.

Our Heartfelt Apology:

On behalf of all decent Kiwis, the blog moderators sincerely apologise to the victim’s wife, Du Xiangli,  their 19-year-old son, and other members of their extended family, as well as their friends for his tragic but most probably avoidable death in New Zealand. We urge all migrant workers and foreign travellers to reconsider their plans before visiting our fatally dangerous country.

“In the midst of a construction boom, the country is increasingly turning to migrants to fill a skill and labour shortage. This year there are almost 60,000 construction workers in New Zealand who were born overseas – a quarter of the total workforce.”

“… the influx of foreign workers has been tainted by exploitation cases …”

Yu Xingming obtained his work visa after paying about $30,000 to an intermediary in China. His wife says “she has yet to receive any explanation or compensation over his accident. In fact, it still isn’t clear exactly who her husband was working for,” Stuff wrote.

Two Australian tourists killed in a head-on collision with a truck south of Christchurch

Two female Australian visitors were violently killed when their car collided head-on with a truck on State Highway 1 south of Christchurch, a report said.

The victims were reportedly travelling south in a rental car “when they veered into the path of an oncoming TNL Freighting truck on State Highway 1 at Bankside corner, north of the Rakaia River on Sunday.”

The two victims who were killed in the crash had landed in Christchurch that morning before taking the rental car, a policeman was cited as saying.

Two other tourists, a Singaporean couple named as Ms Rena Ong, 29, and Mr Chen Zhi Hao, 38, were killed nearby in a similar fatal incident in 2017.

“Seven other people suffered minor injuries in the crash, including four people in another car that was hit by debris.”

NZ police had previously identified the victims incorrectly as 29-year old Ms Ong See Yee and 38-year-old Mr Chin Tze Hau.

They were killed in record time for foreign visitors arriving in New Zealand of about three hours.  Previous record was held by a French victim, Remi Morilleau, 27, who was killed in just under four hours after landing in Auckland airport.

Two more Samoans were killed violently in New Zealand and a third man remains in a critical condition after a head-on crash on State Highway 1 north of Christchurch on Sunday.

Another Negligent Homicide on NZ’s Death Roads

Posted by te2ataria on November 1, 2019

Fyfa Dawson, 19, killed at ‘deathtrap’ motorway worksite  in Christchurch

Authorities were warned a roadworks site was a deathtrap. It fell on deaf ears. Then a cyclist was killed.

“Concerns about the safety of cyclists at a roadworks site in Christchurch were raised almost a year before Fyfa Dawson, 19, was fatally struck on her bike,” a report said.

Fyfa Dawson, 19, was fatally struck by a truck while cycling. Authorities had been warned as early as Nov. 2018 that the roadworks at the Springs Rd, Halswell Junction Rd site was a deathtrap. It fell on deaf ears. Then she was killed.

Concerned cyclists contacted New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) in November 2018 about the safety of cyclists at the Springs Rd, Halswell Junction Rd site.

However, no action was taken to improve the site safety. “It fell on deaf ears.”

Ms. Dawson was hit by a truck and killed while turning at ‘deathtrap’ motorway worksite, at the Springs Rd, Halswell Junction Rd site at about 8am on Wednesday.

Victim’s aunt, Caryn Dawson, told reporters her niece had an “absolute love of cycling”.

“Last year she did two three-month stints cycling around the US, covering thousands of kilometres, including over the Rocky Mountains,” a report cited her as saying.

“She comes back and gets killed in Christchurch, it’s shocking.

“If anything, you’d expect something to happen to her while she’s on her own in the US [exactly our thoughts, too. Editor.] She pitched a tent on the side of the road; she had a very adventurous spirit.”

Child Hit by truck, critically injured

Meanwhile, a child was critically injured after being hit by truck on SH1, just north of Houhora, Northland, earlier this afternoon.

Media-related links to the negligent homicides of cyclists on NZ roads:
In September 2014, tourist cyclist Ming Chih Hsieh, 33, died when a large articulated truck crushed him at the Carmen Rd–Waterloo Rd intersection in Hornby.

In April 2014, 22-year-old nursing student Sharla Haerewa was killed on Lincoln Rd when she was crushed beneath 75-year-old John Williams Herridge’s truck as he made a left turn.

Cyclist’s death in crash near Nelson takes national road toll to 26 in just seven days
“The Nelson crash on Friday brings the total killed on New Zealand roads in one week to 26.
“Monday was the blackest day when nine people died in three separate crashes, including five people who died in one crash north of Taupō. It was the 20th time nine people died within a 24-hour period on our roads.”
