Reports into Rotorua’s killer tree not being released
“Reports detailing the condition and concerns about the oak tree that killed a woman during Friday’s storm are not being disclosed by Rotorua Lakes Council. Trisha Butterworth was killed when the large tree, known as Spencer’s Oak, fell onto her car during the January 6 storm which battered the North Island. Reports about the condition of the tree, and safety concerns flagged by a local tree specialist, are known to exist but chief executive Craig Tiriana said it would not be appropriate to provide these public records to media, before the police and family, ‘out of respect for Trish Butterworth’s family'”.  https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/100422807/reports-into-rotoruas-killer-tree-not-released-to-public
