At least 4,000 overseas visitors, international students, foreign workers, recent emigrants and refugees have lost their lives and more than 24,000 others seriously injured in New Zealand between Jan 2000 and Jan 2017. All silent Kiwis are complicit in the mass killing of foreigners. (Bad Karma)

People living in Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland, Tasman Bay and Hawke’s Bay regions are either very brave, or extremely… Then again, karma works in mysterious ways!

How is the implantation of a defective prosthesis NOT a physical injury?

Sent by a reader

“Four New Zealanders suffering complications from faulty hip implants have won the chance to appeal against the decision to deny them compensation.”

“After a lengthy legal battle, solicitors representing the four patients will go to the High Court to argue that the implantation of a defective prosthesis is a physical injury entitling the claimant to cover for a treatment injury.

“A group of five who had claims rejected lost their bid to overturn ACC’s decision in 2016 at the Wellington District Court in front of [frigging, establishment] Judge MacLean.” http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/94108230/Four-people-with-faulty-hips-continue-legal-action-against-ACC

Begging: ‘fundamental freedom of expression’

Napier City Council is breaching the fundamental freedom of expression of three beggars under the Bill of Rights, a human rights lawyer will tell the court.

Another lawyer representing two of the beggars said the men will seek to challenge the validity of Napier’s bylaw “insofar as it applies to begging”.

“… begging is a form of political expression that lies at the very core of freedom of expression in that it draws attention to the defendants’ plight, thus raising social and political consciousness amongst the public.”

Impact of Tourism on NZ Fish

Kaikōura’s famous crayfish – also known as rock lobster – are under threat from the growing number of tourists going out on fishing charters, say local fishers.

“Technically they’re [tourists] allowed six lobsters per person and one of these boats can take out 80 people per day. When you’ve got them going out, say, 150 to 200 days a year, that’s a substantial amount of harvesting from a localised fishery.”
