Second body washes up on Muriwai Beach

Yet another body found on Muriwai beach

Saturday, 24 December 2016 – Waitemata – Two bodies have washed up on Muriwai Beach since Wednesday.

A man’s body washed up on Muriwai Beach, north-west of Auckland at approximately 10:25am this morning, police said.

A member of the public called Police after discovering the body. Formal identification and a post-mortem will be carried out tomorrow. http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/body-found-muriwai-beach-0

A person has died after getting into trouble earlier this afternoon in the Wainui River, Whakamarama, police said. “Emergency services were notified at 1.35pm that a person had slipped into a water hole while walking down to the river with two friends.

Three Sri Lankan refugees killed in S. Auckland house fire

New Zealand refugee advocate Kailesh Thanabalasingham lost his wife, 39, son, 5, and mother-in-law, 66, in a fatal house fire on Thursday. His 11-year-old daughter and 69-year-old father-in-law escaped the fire in the south Auckland suburb of Flat Bush.

“Thanabalasingham, who was critically injured in the blaze, is the secretary of the Refugee Council of New Zealand and arrived in New Zealand 10 years ago as a refugee from Sri Lanka.” http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/87846283/three-people-dead-after-auckland-fire

It’s unclear whether the deadly fire was accidental or a racially motivated attack.

Four more foreigners killed in New Zealand

Names of four foreigners killed in Muriwai beach crash released

The names of the four young men killed in last night’s crash on Muriwai Beach have been released by NZ police.

The four victims, aged between 27 and 32, were all killed when they were thrown from their car on Sunday night, police said. Two of the victims were Indians, one from Pakistan and the other from Lebanon.

  1. Mr Pulkit MALHOTRA, aged 27 years old, a recently arrived visitor to New Zealand from India.
  2. Mr Syed JAFRI, aged 29 years old, a New Zealand resident, born in Pakistan.
  3. Mr Imad DIB, aged 31 years old, a Lebanese national holding a work visa.
  4. Mr Dilpreet SINGH, aged 32 years old, a New Zealand resident, born in India.

Three of the victims, Jafri, Singh and Dib worked at Queens Academy Group, an educational institute in central Auckland, according to a report.

Queens Academy Group CEO paid tribute to the dead men earlier today, said the report.

“We are very saddened by the loss of our three staff members Dilpreet, Imad, Haris [Syed] and our friend Pulkit.

“They were valued members of our staff and their friends, colleagues and students will miss them.  Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with their families and friends.”

Seven killed many injured in NZ car crashes

Deadly Crash on Muriwai Beach

Four young men were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in crashed and repeatedly rolled over on Muriwai Beach, west coast of Auckland region, police said.

Police now say initial reports that a 12-year-old boy was critically injured was incorrect.

Fatal crash on State Highway One Tirau – Bay of Plenty of Deaths

A vehicle crash on State Highway 1 north of Tirau killed at least one person and left 6 others [seriously] injured On Friday 11th September 2015. An SUV travelling south rolled over near to the intersection with Horahora Road, police said.

A fatal crash on State Highway 1 at Piarere in the South Waikato District killed at least one person, possibly a foreign visitor.

Tokoroa motorcycle crash victim named

A motorcycle rider who was killed after colliding with a car on Kereru Street at the intersection with Pateke Place, Tokoroa, has been named as Casey Ruua, aged 25.

Man found dead in a car on Tokerau Beach

Police say a Far North man whose body was found in a car on Tokerau Beach died of natural causes. He was Kevin George Harding of Karikari Peninsula.

Serious motor vehicle crash on SH1

A Serious Motor Crash occurred on State Highway One near Te Horo, south of Otaki, Wednesday 9th September 2015 .

A fully loaded logging truck and car collided and the logging truck lost logs onto the roads and surrounding kerbside, the car, truck and the logs blocked the entire Highway.

This female driver of the car is in a serious condition. The driver of the truck has been treated at the scene by the Ambulance Service.

The victim of the fatal crash that occurred on Maronan Bridge (Canterbury) on 8 September 2015 has been named as David John Tayles from Tinwald.

Another fatal collision on SH1, the Waikato Expressway, near Taupiri.
A fatal crash claimed the life of 36-year-old Gordon James THOMPSON, who was also known as Anaru Jordan TAMEHANA.

The collision also left the driver of another car in a critically injured condition.

“Last year, of the 35 fatal crashes in the Waikato, 15 occurred where excessive speed was a contributing factor in terms of speed limits or climatic conditions,” said Inspector Grace, District Road Policing Manager.

“From a policing perspective, it’s no longer solely an enforcement issue; it’s a life saving one. Already this year 31 people have lost their lives on Waikato roads.  We are here to support the community but the community needs to support us in making our roads a safe environment.”

Fatal Crash in Waikato

A woman was critically injured in a fatal Waikato collision that claimed the life of another person.

“However initial indications are that a northbound Nissan Bluebird car has crossed the centreline into the path of a southbound Mazda Tribute stationwagon,” police said .

Police were awaiting the results of forensic examinations to complete the formal identification of the male driver of the Nissan who was killed in the crash, said the District Road Policing Manager.

“He was the sole occupant of that car however there were two women travelling in the Mazda and both were taken to Waikato Hospital by ambulance. One underwent surgery overnight and is described as being a critical but stable condition while the second woman is described as suffering minor to moderate injuries.”

Killer Sharks and Air New Zealand

What could they possibly have in common?

They each claimed a victim in New Zealand this week!

A man in his 40s was attacked and killed by a shark  14 foot long in Maori Bay today.

The victims, not yet named, was “swimming 200m offshore north from Maori Bay to Muriwai at about 1.30pm when he was attacked by a shark. His injuries were fatal.”

“Police and surf life savers went out in two IRBs and fired on the shark. It rolled over and disappeared.” Police said.

Muriwai and surrounding beaches have since been closed.

It’s believed that more than one shark may have been involved in the fatal attack.

Air New Zealand

A man died on an Air NZ flight at Auckland International Airport, according to a report.

The victim collapsed as he was boarding Air New Zealand flight NZ56 to Nadi, Fiji, about 9.05am on Monday.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

Auckland – Police helicopter finally located the body reported washed up on Muriwai beach,  west Auckland after 3 hours.

Immediately upon locating the body, police spokesman announced there was nothing to suggest suspicious circumstances!

Police trying to identify body found at beach

Wellington –   Police are trying to identify a man whose body was found floating off Wellington’s south coast on Thursday.

Passersby found the man’s body in the surf at Houghton Bay about 10.30am, Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton said.

He was described as a slim Caucasian in his 30s, wearing a long-sleeved brown and blue chequered shirt, black jeans and brown running New Balance shoes.

A silver and orange Giant brand mountain bike, blue helmet and other clothing were also found near the body.

If you thought the police said circumstances surrounding this death were not believed to be suspicious …

“At this stage, the circumstances surrounding this death are not believed to be suspicious,” Thornton said.

Police name gunman in fatal shooting near Nelson

Nelson –  Man shoots another man, then allegedly kills himself.

Police say Ian Boyd, 58, shot a 30-year-old man in the upper body, and then killed himself.
