Water thefts reported in dry Mangawhai

Desperately dry weather is bringing out the best – and worst – in residents in north Auckland.

Posts on social media have highlighted the dark side of dry communities, with water reportedly stolen from home and business water tanks.

A Mangawhai Police spokesperson says there have been no official reports, but a resident did make an informal complaint.

Filling up with 10,000 litres before going away for the weekend, the resident returned to find an empty tank, but filed no official report with police.
