Why would Easter road kills be any different to hundreds of others throughout the year?

Smoke Screen: “Police to investigate causes of Easter road deaths”

“According to Ministry of Transport provisional figures, there were two deaths over the period from 4pm Thursday to 6am this morning [Tuesday.]”

What the number according to the perfidious police [syn: “lying bastards”]? What happened to the other deaths that were reported by them?

As for the actual number, as many as 9 road fatalities may have occurred over the holiday period. However, the UNCENSORED death reports were as follows:

One person was killed in a crash on the Riverton-Wallacetown in Southland on Sunday. “Twenty one-year-old Conor Drake, of Otautau, died after a crash between a four wheel drive and a Fonterra tanker.”

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car on the side of Tapuaeroa Rd at Ruatoria near Gisborne, just before 1.00 am on Sunday.

How Ruatoria man Nelson Hari was killed

“Police are investigating exactly how Ruatoria man Nelson Hari, a shearer and keen hunter, came to his death as he walked home about 12.40am on Sunday on a dark country road after drinking with friends.”  http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11840094

On Saturday, a man was killed while participating in a motorbike race in Methven, about an hour from Christchurch. But he doesn’t qualify as a “Grateful Dead” and will not be included in the official road toll.

What’s the excuse for the disqualification? “The road was closed to the public at the time [!?]”

The point of this official chicanery? To somehow claim credit for “improved” Easter road toll compared with last year’s, despite much worst even official figures year-to date. http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/police-investigate-causes-easter-road-deaths

Moderators are aware of at least 16 serious crashes with up to 20 people hospitalized with serious to critical injuries. Based on local information, as many as five of the injured are, sadly, “highly unlikely to pull through.”

Let wait and see, if any would be reported.
