How much do police car crashes cost the taxpayers?

Posted by te2ataria on October 30, 2015

Police admit blame for 62 percent of police car crashes in the past year

Police staff were to blame for about 500 out of 810 police car crashes in the 12 months to until June 2015.

Official documents obtained by RNZ show police were involved in 810 crashes from June 2014 until June 2015.

“In 469 of the crashes, the incidents were recorded as “damage only” to the police cars involved.”

Police Association president, Greg O’Connor, has pinned the blame on a rise in more offenders “having a go” at fleeing police, according to report.

The report did not disclose number of drivers and/or passengers killed or seriously injured as a result police car chases.

There are about 3,100 police cars on the roads, according to a report.

Corrupt Police Powerless Without Corrupt Judiciary

Corrupt Judge Lets Criminal Copper Off the Hook, Again!

Corrupt Judge: Drink Driving? Ah, Lad, That’s Nothing! You Could have Raped a Dozen Toddlers and I’d Still Let You Walk Free!

Government corruption is endemic in New Zealand!

Drink-driving cop avoids conviction

A senior policeman who drove drunk has escaped a conviction, after a judge said it was more important he stay on the job.

Sergeant Jason Lamont, 39, was nearly one and a half times over the legal alcohol limit when he was pulled over last August.

His reading level was 113mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.

He admitted a charge of driving with an excess blood alcohol and pleaded guilty at North Shore District Court in April, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Judge Phil Gittos discharged Mr Lamont without conviction and said his role and experience outweighed the importance of the conviction.

His lawyer Steve Bonnar told the paper the judge took the view it would not be in the public interest for an experienced and well-regarded senior police officer to be out of a job and the public was better served by him staying in the police.

In spite of the discharge Mr Lamont was disqualified from driving for six months and ordered to pay court costs.

Mr Bonnar said his client had misjudged the amount of alcohol he drank before driving.

Police should have abandoned high-speed pursuit: Report

Posted by te2ataria on February 16, 2010

How could they?

High-speed pursuits one of the reasons why the b*stards join the PIGS

“Police should have abandoned a high-speed pursuit through inner city Christchurch which resulted in a young mother being seriously injured, Independent Police Conduct Authority report has found.” The Press reported.

The scene of crash on Durham Street in which Laura Henry (inset) and another person were seriously injured. Police photo/ The Press.

Laura Henry, 25, came withing inches of a violent death, when Thomas Joseph Hancy, pursued by the police, crashed his car into her at an intersection on December 5, 2008 a.

During the high-speed chase “Hancy who was driving a stolen car ran a red light and crashed into Henry’s Toyota which was passing through an intersection.”

As a result of her “life-threatening” injuries sustained during the crash, Henry spent eight weeks in hospital.

“A front-seat passenger was also seriously injured, and Henry’s five-year-old daughter, restrained in the back seat, suffered minor injuries.”

According to the report Officers A and B [what, names suppressed, again?] were “not justified in commencing a pursuit under the Police pursuit policy.”

[Oh…, so the idiots do have a policy, but is invariably ignored by the pigs?]

“The officers did not properly consider the risks before deciding that the immediate need to apprehend the offender outweighed those risks”. The Press reported.

Officers A and B who were giving chase in an  unmarked police cars broke all the rules (what little there was), failing to  communicate with the Police Southern Communications Centre.

Hancy was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm and is currently serving1 51-months sentence. Officers A and B have since been promoted.

ALL NZ POLICE should undergo TRAINING for a minimum of 10 – 20 years, depending on the officers’ IQ ratings: Commonsense

Welcome to New Zealand police farce!

Posted by te2ataria on February 9, 2009

A psycho? Murderer? Rapist? Wife-beater? Ex-military? Pimp? Thug? Pusher? Scumbag? pedophile?

Welcome to New Zealand police farce! You’re just the individual we’re looking for. We’ll grant you a whitewash and graduation with honors

A police recruit who assaulted two colleagues in a Wellington bar was allowed to graduate with a blemish-free record. (Source)

“The man denied the offending, but an internal investigation into the incident, completed after he had graduated from the police college and had been placed in South Auckland, found him guilty of common assault a charge punishable by up to six months in prison or a $4000 fine.

“It is understood no criminal charges were laid.

“The information comes to light as another former recruit remains stood down on full pay awaiting trial, accused of raping a woman he met on the internet, two weeks into his police training.

“Police were unable [!] to say how many recruits had been investigated for disgraceful conduct in the past few years, but The Dominion Post knows of three other investigations in 2006 alone, including one accused of a domestic-related burglary and another man convicted of assaulting another recruit with a bottle while socialising in the police bar.”

“Police Minister Judith Collins declined to comment.” Read more…
