Poorest New Zealanders spend 51 per cent of income on housing, up from 29 per cent in 1990

New Zealanders on the lowest incomes are now spending 51 percent of their income on housing, up from 29 percent in 1990, according to the latest Bryan Perry Household Incomes Report out today.

“Housing costs are eating into families’ budgets at a rate we’ve never seen before,” Green Party Co-leader Metiria Turei said.

“These figures today show that the housing crisis is hurting our poorest people the most. That, combined with low incomes, is a recipe for growing poverty.

“New Zealanders living in cold damp housing know that they are paying too much to live where they are, yet they are powerless to change it.

“Only Government can fundamentally improve how our housing market operates. But this National Government has shown no commitment to doing that, even after nine years of failed policy.”

About 110,000 children live in damp and mouldy conditions, while 140,000 are unable to keep warm in winter and 75,000 experience both issues, according to Household Incomes Report.

Disease Outbreaks: Mycoplasma bovis

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) says it is responding to the detection of the cattle disease Mycoplasma bovis in a dairy herd in South Canterbury.

This is the first detection of the serious disease in New Zealand, MPI said.

“This bacterial disease can, however, have serious effects on cattle including udder infection (mastitis), abortion, pneumonia and arthritis.

“Right now we’re working with the farmer to contain the disease to the affected farm and treat the animals showing symptoms. We are very appreciative of his support in this work.”

MPI was advised of sick cattle at the property last Monday and Mycoplasma bovis was confirmed by the Ministry’s Animal Health Laboratory late on Saturday (22 July).

“Fourteen cows have tested positive for Mycoplasma bovis and approximately 150 cows on the property have clinical signs that indicate they may be affected. MPI is now tracing movements of animals on and off the property to ascertain if other properties are at risk.”  https://www.mpi.govt.nz/

Pigs murder another motorcyclist in Mangere pursuit

Police murder motorcyclist; make up a cock-and-bull story (AGAIN)

Police said: “The driver failed to stop and police initiated a pursuit. Almost immediately after this the motorcyclist has crashed near the intersection with Royton Avenue.”

A female eyewitness saw police motorbike chasing the victim through Mangere shortly before the  fatal crash.

“We were at Caltex on Massey Rd getting petrol, and we saw a cop on the bike chasing a fella on the bike,” she said.

“I saw the lights. They were speeding past and by the time we had filled up and got to Buckland Rd lights, they were putting a cordon in place.”

“Despite the woman seeing police following the motorcyclist along Massey Rd with flashing lights on, a police spokeswoman told the Herald police stood by their original statement that the person had been speeding on Buckland Rd when the pursuit began,” said NZherald.

A second member of the public has since said she also saw police chasing the motorcyclist on Massey Rd.

The woman, who asked to stay anonymous, said she saw a police motorbike in pursuit of the motorcyclist while she was at the Massey Rd BP station, which is 1.2km from Buckland Rd.

“I stopped my car to let the motorcyclist and police through as the motorcyclist wasn’t stopping at all,” she said.

“The person was driving at an increasingly high speed – the cops were struggling to keep up. The cop on the motorbike was about five seconds behind him, then another police [vehicle] came from Vine St a few seconds behind the police motorcyclist.”

Texts from her phone show the pursuit went past some time between 7.17pm and 7.20pm, she said. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11894208

Super rich depend on ideologies and behaviors that enhance and sustain their hegemony

The following excerpts are from a newly published study ‘Preferences for group dominance track and mediate the effects of macro-level social inequality and violence across societies’ conducted by academics in Denmark, Norway, Harvard University in the United States and Victoria University in Wellington. ).

Social Dominance Orientation (SDO) – Inequality and Political Unaccountability

The greater the inequality of resources and power, the greater level of political unaccountability, corruption, and lack of democracy and rule of law we expect, because these phenomena precisely signal and enforce that the lion’s share of resources goes to the dominant group by virtue of its power and greater formidability.

Willingness to enforce group hegemony violently to sustain hierarchy

[…] macrolevel inequality and violence were associated with greater individual-level support of group hegemony. Crucially, this individual-level support, rather than cultural-societal norms, was in turn uniquely associated with greater racism, sexism, welfare opposition, and even willingness to enforce group hegemony violently by participating in ethnic persecution of subordinate out-groups. These findings suggest that societal inequality is reflected in people’s minds as dominance motives that underpin ideologies and actions that ultimately sustain group-based hierarchy.

[…] higher-ranked individuals enjoy privileged access to resources, territory, mates, and ultimately greater reproductive success.

The study is posted at Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences (PNASS)

Heavily Censored Police Road Fatality Reports

One sexual assault in New Zealand every FIVE minutes?

At least 3 Dunedin women were sexually assaulted in Dunedin on St Patrick’s Day

Three women are “extremely traumatised” after being  sexually assaulted in Dunedin on St Patrick’s Day, Friday 17 March, police said.

The first happened at a Dundas Street address between 8pm and 8.30pm.

Two 19-year-old women were in the same room when a young man walked in and sexually assaulted them both. The man, who was wearing shorts and a t-shirt, is described as being in his 20s, with short dark hair and dark skin.

A large number of people celebrating St Patricks Day had congregated at a house nearby, known as “The Hospital”. The offender may have been in this area around the time of the attack and Police would like to hear from anyone who may be able to help identify him.

Officers are also investigating a separate incident that happened on Leith Way at about 9.15-9.30pm.

A woman was walking north, towards UniCol, when she was pushed over and sexually assaulted by a  Caucasian man in his early 20s. He is described as being of medium build, 180cm tall, with long dark curly hair that was tied back.

At about 4.40am this morning, a vehicle failed to stop for a routine Police check on Bairds Road. Officers followed the vehicle for a short distance through Paptoetoe and Otara before abandoning the pursuit due to safety concerns over the manner of driving. The pursuit lasted about four minutes.

A short time later, the vehicle was seen again on Bairds Road, where it crashed.

And, to justify murdering the fleeing driver:

As officers approached the vehicle, the sole male occupant pointed a firearm at them. The officers withdrew and the man ran from the vehicle. Police [finally] pledge to crack down on organised crime: Hundreds of beehives are stolen

Police have received at least 400 reports of hives and honey being stolen since July 2016, costing beekeepers millions of dollars.

Demand for Kiwi honey in China and Hong Kong saw a 35% spike in exports in 2016, with export revenue reaching a record $315 million ($220 million), and beekeepers believe it is the rising value which is making theft of hives attractive.

“The amount of product that is being stolen is not something you can just throw in the boot of a car and go away,” Senior Sergeant Alasdair Macmillan shamefully admitted.

Until very recently, police were completely ignorant about the thefts, “because you think, bees, they’re just hanging around the garden”.

We now believe the thefts are an organised crime, he added.

A Manuka honey hive is worth up to $1,500.

“The high value of honey, particularly manuka honey, is likely to be contributing, and because of the scale we believe it’s an organized operation in most parts of the country,” MacMillan said.

“The industry has also grown significantly, with close to 800,000 registered hives across the country”, said a report.

Bbeehive theft is now occurring “on a much wider scale” said Apiculture New Zealand Chief Executive.

Young victim in a coma because of police pursuit?

Posted by te2ataria on October 22, 2016

Sent by a reader in Taranaki

Was police chasing “hit-and-run driver” when victim was hit?

A 61-year-old driver has been arrested over an alleged hit-and-run in Whanganui early this morning. The victim, Jesse Minnell, 24, was said to be in a critical/ serious condition.

How Did the Crash Happen?

Police have alleged that they were dealing with a pub fight outside the Red Lion Inn on Anzac Parade when a car swerved into the crowd and hit 24-year-old Jesse Minnell, around 2.20am. However, the nearby residents had heard nothing about the alleged brawl.

The driver is said to have left the scene in a late-model dark-blue BMW, without the police, or anyone else, noticing the licence plates!!

“Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Forlong said earlier that, while police had been at the scene at the time, they did not manage to get a licence plate number for the offending car.”

Mr Minnell’s mother and father were with him in the hospital, where they said he had been in an induced coma with bleeding in two parts of the brain.

He was earlier described as being in a critical condition.

Family friend Des Attwell told RNZ he thought the officers at the scene should have been able to get the licence plate number.

“Just sounds like very poor training to me. I mean, it’s seems like a simple procedure – if you’re pursuing a car, what’s the first thing you do? See what the number plate is, call it in. It seems somewhat remiss.”

The police were not responding to Mr Attwell’s criticism, but confirmed officers were being questioned as witnesses.

What Pub Brawl???

A manager at the Red Lion Inn said they did not want to comment.

Mike Woodhead, the owner-operator at a nearby Four Square supermarket, said he had been talking to a witness who was “shaken” from the incident.

Woodhead arrived at work at 4.45am on Saturday to find Anzac Parade had been closed off. “There were no police. It was just the security and the road workers closing the road.”

While serving customers in the morning, Woodhead said he talked to a person who witnessed the events outside the Red Lion Inn.

“I know one guy who saw it and he was a bit upset by it all. He was a bit shaken up.”

He said most neighbours he had talked to in the area had not heard any commotion during the early hours of the morning.

Homeless crisis: One in 100 Kiwis homeless, and counting

Posted by te2ataria on June 3, 2016

Homelessness in New Zealand skyrocketing: Study

At least one in every 100 Kiwis were homeless in 2013.

The “severely housing deprived” had accelerated from 2006 to 2013, says a study by University of Otago, Wellington.

At least one in every 100 Kiwis were homeless in 2013, this included those living with family and friends.

This figure had increased from 2006 data which showed one in every 120 people were homeless, while in 2001, this was at one in 130 people.  http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/80719962/One-in-100-Kiwis-homeless-new-study-shows-numbers-quickly-rising

Even the manipulated stats are grim:

According to rounded census numbers, in 2001 there were 28,649 people out of total population of 3,744,534 that were homeless (one person out of 130). In 2006 that grew to 33,295 out of 4,059,876 (one in 121) and in 2013 it accelerated to 41,705 out of 4,254,594 (one in 102).

“If the homeless population were a hundred people, 70 are staying with extended family or friends in severely crowded houses, 20 are in a motel, boarding house or camping ground, and 10 are living on the street, in cars, or in other improvised dwellings,” said University researcher Dr Kate Amore.

“They all urgently need affordable housing.”

The number of people in “severe housing deprivation” in 2013 was one in 100, up more than 60 percent in 12 years. Assuming the trend has continued [in fact the trend has accelerated,] there could now be nearly 50,000 Kiwis homeless. http://www.newshub.co.nz/

Meanwhile, Chinese investors are allowed to push up price of the average house in Queentown to  NZ$955,793.

I can’t guarantee housing for homeless: Social Housing Minister

Social Housing Minister Paula Bennett says there’s no guarantee that homeless families would get a roof over their heads after contacting Work and Income.

Her comments come after Prime Minister John Key said Kiwis living out of cars and garages should contact the welfare agency where they would receive support.

Bennett said Work and Income would try their best to help, but it depended on what support was available.

“Look, I can’t guarantee that,” she said on RNZhttp://www.stuff.co.nz/national/80719962/One-in-100-Kiwis-homeless-new-study-shows-numbers-quickly-rising

At least 27% of all NZ children live below the poverty line [2012 figures]
“Around 285,000 of our children (27% of all children) live below the 60% income line after housing costs, (the poverty line used by the Ministry of Social Development). Many of these children have their lifelong health and education compromised so poverty effects can persist through generations. For 3 out of 5 of those children, poverty persists over at least seven years – for most of their early formative years. Evidence shows that the longer the period on low income, the greater the harm.”  http://www.cpag.org.nz/resources-publications/our-children-our-choice-priorities-for-policy-7/part-one-child-health/

Truth about the daily road carnage hurts New Zealand’s $10 billion tourism industry…

Today is DAY 169 of the latest NZ TOURISTS or truth? (police censorship of road fatalities) campaign

  • Blog estimate: About 900 people are killed on NZ roads each year. [Most probably] up to 381 road fatalities have occurred in NZ since 1 January 2016
  • No of road fatalities recorded by Minitru: 141

How do they do it?

Police manipulate the road toll by censoring reports of fatal crashes, while the Ministry of Transport simply delete the unwanted road fatalities, even from their own published records.

Official manipulation of suicide rates in NZ partially exposed

Posted by te2ataria on May 29, 2016

Foreword: Truth is regarded as a dangerous, alien chimera, disallowed to not burden the minds of New Zealanders!

‘Number of suicides may be three times as high as recorded’

The official suicide rate has increased from 11.73 in the year to June last year to 12.27 (for every 100,000 people) this year.

However, the country’s suicide rate may be [at least] three times as high as official figures suggest. The latest statistics put New Zealand’s suicide rate at only 570 for the whole year.

But Timaru GP Dr Oliver Bourke told Fairfax Media coroners won’t rule a death as suicide unless it’s very clear the person intended taking their own life.

Dr Bourke said deaths will be classified in a different category, such as an accident, or the cause will go down as undetermined – what’s known as an “open verdict”.

Heavily manipulated statistics show that 564 people committed suicide in the year to June 2015, up from 529 in 2014.

However, this is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg. What Dr Bourke probably doesn’t realize is that the overall figures are subject to several other rounds of manipulation by government officials before they are published.

But kudos to DR Bourke for speaking out.

Who is asking answering these questions?

Who do New Zealanders admire the most?

Could it be the same people who lied: “NZ is the happiest, safest, most civilized… country in the world”,  again?

Let me guess, does it involve the former PM, Mrs Dracula, and the teenage Korean golf player?

And, why are Aussies being accused of picking a child-molester to be their most admired man!

Thankfully, by the time you read about the Americans, you are well prepared for the shock: Michelle and [Brownnosing] Barack [Obsequious] Obama took the top spots in the USA. Is that even consistent with some of the other polls that are only partially rigged?

What about the UK? “Stephen [Why?] Hawking and the Queen came out on top in the UK.”

As for the world’s most favorite critters, some 7.5 billion people [just kidding] chose Bill [I-want-it-all] Gates as their most admired man, and Angelina Jolie the most admired woman in the world since 2015.

Pope Francis was booted out of the world’s top 10 because of his views on immigration and carpet-bombing, while the U.S. Messiah, Donald Trump, and Mark [I-don’t-have-to-work-for-my-money] Zuckerberg jumped into the top 20 for the first time.

[When your “survey respondents” are the hundreds of  “social sycophants”, with strong links to the “deception state”, and employed by Internet-rent-a-crowd companies like “Comments Anonymous, Inc.”, or “We Troll Inc.”, based in the Big Rotten Apple, this is exactly what you should expect!]

WHO Presses Asian Countries to Cut Road Deaths in Half

“The World Health Organization (WHO) is pressing Asian countries to cut their road death and injury toll in half by 2020.

“A 2015 study from Chalmers Technical University in Goteborg, Sweden, covering 24 Asian countries encompassing 56 percent of the world’s population [4.3 billion], says the total highway death toll for those countries is 750,000 per year with traffic accidents the leading cause of death for people under the age of 30.”

“The study says the injury toll is more than 50 million, of which 12 percent are hospital admissions, leading to economic costs of around $800 billion or 3.6 percent of the gross domestic product in those 24 countries.”  http://www.voanews.com/content/who-presses-asian-countries-to-cut-road-deaths-in-half/3290095.html

  • According to our calculations the road toll in those countries is about 17 fatalities per 100,000 of population.
  • If the police didn’t manipulate the road toll in this country, you’d find the annual road deaths of about 900 translates into 20 fatalities per 100,000 of NZ population.
