WTF: Police pursuit intended to murder ‘fleeing’ driver ends in Mangere East crash, serious injury, transformer explosion, power outages…

Many people in Mangere East are tonight without power after police shunted a fleeing car from behind forcing it to crash into a transformer on Buckland Rd in South Auckland.

The damage sustained by the pursued car, which included the back window and rear taillight of the car being broken, is consistent with the vehicle being shunted from behind.

How a small plane crash disrupts lives of tens of thousands of people in New Zealand!

A small plane has crashed into power lines near Wairoa, just north of Tiniroto, killing at least two people and leaving tens of thousands of homes in Gisborne District without power.

More than 20,000 customers have been affected by the outage and are likely to be without power for several days.

The plane crash has caused significant damage to the city’s electricity infrastructure (!) leaving the entire city and multiple rural areas without power, said Gisborne mayor Meng Foon, local media reported.

“It’s [destroyed at least] four major pylons [made of Chinese steel?] and 800m worth of power lines.”

Civil Defence has told people to conserve water: No power, no water!

“Keep flushing the toilet to a minimum, don’t water the garden, and the biggest advice is to prepare and think about how you’ll be cooking,” their spokesperson said.

[Translation: Do not drink or cook, refrain from urinating or defecating indoors, AND shower and bath are certainly out of the question for the foreseeable future.]

Diehard Skiers Hit by Weather Bomb

As a powerful storm cut power to an estimated 100,000 homes throughout New Zealand’s North Island, weather forecasters predicted even worse condition throughout the country.

More than ten thousand tourists heading up Mt Ruapehu in the central North Island were caught in the storm, when the skifield closed.

The storm was described as “extremely rare and nasty” by the New Zealand un-authorities. “It is one of the largest and deepest lows we’ve seen for some years.”
