Female tourist killed in car crash near Lake Pukaki

Posted by te2ataria on March 13, 2016

Foreword: Censorship, news blackout and disinformation are serious threats to a democracy, even one as theatrical as ours!
One way to manipulate the road toll statistics, second only to news censorship, is to report most of the dead as being in a “serious/critical” condition, or in intensive care. This way, if the news leaks, the “seriously injured” could always be pronounced “dead as a result of their injuries!”

Two killed here, three killed there, soon we’ll be talking another weekend carnage!

WHITECLIFFS DEATH: The scene of the fatal crash at Pukearuhe Rd, near Whitecliffs, north of Urenui.Photo: CAMERON BURNELL/Taranaki Daily News. Image may be subject to copyright.

The tourist deathtrap where Joelle Marguerite Janine Gaiffe from the Tahitian capital Papeete was killed is a road that leads to Taranaki’s “scenic attraction,” the Whitecliffs walkway.

She was the passenger in an [unroadworthy rental] 1996 Honda Integra when it collided head-on with a Nissan Pathfinder on Puke aruhe Rd, near Urenui, north of New Plymouth, and  was killed at the scene at about 4pm on March 10, 2009.

Her husband Francis Louis Georges Gaiffe, 43, who suffered serious leg and facial injuries in the crash, was airlifted to Taranaki Base Hospital by Helicopter.

The [defective] rental car in which she was traveling “was extensively damaged with bull bars from the ute [pickup truck] embedded in its crumpled bonnet that had been pushed back into the shattered windscreen.”

A nincompoop Senior Sergeant said the police “did not yet know why the collision on the slightly bending road had occurred.”

“My guys told me that initially when they got out here it was raining, however it is too early to say whether or not that was a factor. It’s too early to say whether speed or inattention were a factor either.”

The two traveling in the Nissan Pathfinder, “a 20-year-old woman from Stratford, and her front seat passenger, a 24-year-old Canadian man, were also taken to hospital” with  non-fatal  injuries.
