University of Otago students cause outrage in Dunedin: Rape threats, street harassment of women and racial abuse…
“Within the past week alone the incidences of racist speech/slurs, street harassment towards women (including a threat of rape in the middle of the street, a woman being chased at 8pm …) have been shocking,” a letter to Otago University this week signed by 11 women said, slamming students’ conduct.
“This is not another letter about couch burning or broken glass, or piles of vomit in the street,” the letter said.
“It is much more serious”. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/education/77422829/Rape-threats-unacceptable-and-insidious-harassment-in-Dunedin

“Van der Plaat kept Darke as a sex slave for 23 years, committing heinous acts including hanging her from the ceiling by her ankles before abusing her, making her pregnant with a baby she later miscarried, and raping her after giving her overdoses of drugs and alcohol.” http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/77391710/One-of-New-Zealands-most-sadistic-sex-offenders-to-be-released
