Police executioners know the outcome of car pursuits
All in a day’s work: police execute 16-year-olds for alleged car theft, arrest 3-year-olds for alleged shoplifting
Eden Nathan of Mangere was the 16-year-old who was killed after an alleged stolen car she was travelling in crashed into another vehicle during an early-morning police chase in south Auckland.
The 15-year-old girl driving the car is fighting for her life in Auckland City Hospital.
Driver of the other vehicle was also injured. Both vehicle were wrecked.

Police’s octored statistics
- In 2010, at least 18 drivers were killed in police pursuits. The statistics are only for drivers, and do not apply to other members of the public killed or injured in police pursuits. We’ve been unable to find data for the subsequent years.]
- Police Minister Judith Collins’ office provided NZPA further statistics showing that in 2010 there were 2211 fleeing driver incidents with 354 crashes (16 per cent), in 2009 it was 2349 with 388 crashes (16.5 per cent), 2155 with 505 crashes in 2008 (23.4 per cent), 2435 and 584 crashes in 2007 (24 per cent) and 2234 and 546 crashes in 2006 (24.4 per cent).
