The wreckage of a light aircraft has been located in the northern Tararua Ranges, police said.
The two male occupants of the aircraft were killed in the crash, the report said.

The body of a young girl has been located near the mouth of the Grey River near Cobden, on the West Coast this morning.

“While formal identification is still to be carried out, we believe it is nine-year-old Emily Branje, who was swept into the water at the Hokitika River mouth on Thursday 27 [sic.] September.”

Emily Branje and a 69-year-old man, understood to be her step-granddad, fell into the the water at the river mouth on Thursday morning (Sept 26, 2019) while fishing. She was on holiday with extended family in Hokitika. A homicide investigation has been launched in relation to the death of a man who was found at a residential property in Bunnythorpe on Friday 27 September, police said.

“The University of Canterbury (UC) student, who spoke on the condition of anonymity but whose identity has been verified by Stuff, is one of a number of informants who have raised concerns about a lack of support and pastoral care at the university and associated accommodation providers,” a report said.

“The body of 19-year-old Mason Pendrous was found on Monday night at Sonoda Christchurch Campus, student accommodation at the university run by external provider Campus Living Villages (CLV). Sources say he is thought to have been dead for nearly eight weeks.”

Mason Pendrous, 19, was found dead at the University of Canterbury’s Sonoda Campus in Christchurch on Monday. His body reportedly lay decomposing for about 8 weeks.

The international student, who knew Pendrous from Scots College in Wellington, described him as a wallflower. “He just sort of melted into the background a little bit.” The student was shocked at what had happened.

“It’s ridiculous,” he said. “How can you be that negligent?”

Emily Branje, aged 9. “We are in shock and grief after receiving the news yesterday about our precious only child, Emily,” her family said.

“Police continue to search for Emily and are supporting her family at this difficult time.”

Emily had been spending school holidays with extended family in Hokitika.

Emily and a 69-year-old man fell into the water on Thursday morning, triggering a large search. The pair “got into trouble and a member of the public was able to retrieve the gentleman but the girl went further out and is still missing”.

They were not wearing lifejackets, police said!

University of Canterbury (UC) student Mason Pendrous was found dead on Monday night by a Canterbury Living Village (CLV) staff member. Authorities are yet to say how the 19-year-old died, but sources say he is thought to have been dead for nearly eight weeks.

Staff running university halls where Pendrous lay dead for weeks were warned in May to check on him, a report said.

Police seeking wanted man following sexual attacks

62-year-old Murray Edward Thomas Robertson [and presumably his accomplice(s)] are wanted in relation to an abduction [possibly two sexnappings] and sexual violation of a 17-year-old female, Auckland police said.

“Murray Robertson has two warrants for his arrest for abduction for sex and unlawful sexual connection with a female over 16.”

The victim was raped by at least two attackers, a police insider told the blog.

“The incident occurred around 4pm on Friday 20 September at the carpark at New World in Mt Roskill where the victim was forced into a vehicle allegedly by Murray Robertson. There was another unknown man waiting in the car who has held her down. They have then driven the victim around and parked up on Roseman Avenue Mt Roskill and she has been sexually violated.

“She has eventually managed to break free and get out of the vehicle and sought assistance from members of the public who contacted Police.

Police are also investigating a second sexual attack that occurred on Sunday evening (22 September 2019), in Blockhouse Bay. This matter was reported to Police overnight and we are currently seeking to establish the circumstances of this incident but we can say there were two males involved in this incident also. At this stage we cannot rule out the possibility that these two matters are linked.

says Police are asking for the public’s assistance to help us locate Murray Robertson and also urging anyone who has any information on either of these incidents to come forward.

Detective Inspector Scott Beard argued: “These are very serious crimes and Police have a number of officers working on the investigations. Our priority is to locate Murray Robertson and to identify the other male involved in the first incident.”

A female skier was killed at Queenstown’s Coronet Peak skifield earlier today.

“It is believed the woman crashed at the bottom of Sugar’s Run, which is accessed by the Coronet Express chairlift, at about 9am.”

“We are in contact with her family and we are also assisting our staff and guests on the mountain who may have been affected by this event. We are also actively working with the appropriate authorities as the investigations get under way,” NZSki chief executive Paul Anderson said.

One person was killed when a vessel overturned in Manukau Harbour this morning.
“The incident was reported to Police about 12.20pm when three people were pulled from the water by a member of the public in a passing boat.”

Judge lets a child molester off the hook!

Sikh priest Sajan Singh has been sentenced ONLY to seven months home detention for sexually touching two young girls, aged 7 and 12.

Singh, 33, lured his two known victims – girls then aged 7 and 12 – into unoccupied rooms within the gurdwara (Sikh temple) in West Auckland and groped their bottoms on multiple occasions in 2017, reports said.

He had pleaded not guilty at his trial, but was found guilty of six counts of sexual conduct with a child in July. The offending happened in 2017.

Trial judge Nevin Dawson could and should have imposed a custodial sentence on the sick priest, but for reasons only known to himself and his circle of friends he let the child molester off the hook.
