U.S. Film Studios: ASS Backwards
New Line, Warner Bros and MGM Need Earthquake Prayer Sheets
Happy Filming!!
As the US movie studios backing filming of The Hobbit thank director Sir Peter Jackson and NZ PM Don Key for an additional $20m tax break and guarantying to change the law so there would be no possibility that contract workers could go to court and claim employee rights, we [rudely awakened by the latest earthquake in Gisborne] ask, shouldn’t the studios first work on their earthquake prayer sheets?
New Zealand Earthquake Forecast
Filming is scheduled to begin in February 2011, which coincides with new waves of seismic activity throughout New Zealand!
Removing the Last Hints of Employee Rights
“Yesterday parliament passed a labour law change the Government said was an essential part of the deal to ensure the movies stayed in New Zealand,” according to a report.
Thank You [you lovable, corrupt, little fascists] Statement
“We’d like to thank Prime Minister Key, his cabinet and the other dedicated New Zealand officials for their support and cooperation, which helped assuage our concerns and enabled us to keep The Hobbit in its proper home of New Zealand.” New Line, Warner Bros and MGM said in a statement.
May You Film in Interesting Times!!
