Chinese fisherman swept off rocks at Auckland’s Whatipu Beach, presumed dead
The fisherman who was swept away from Te Toka-Tapu-a-Kupe/Ninepin Rock at Whatipu on Sunday is presumed dead, a report said.
Police also named the victim as 56-year-old Wei Shi.
“Sadly due to the length of time Mr Shi has been missing in the water, he is presumed to have drowned,”police was quoted as saying.
An eye witness said he had seen Shi’s body in the water, the report said.
“A 16-year-old swimmer disappeared in the water off Whatipu Beach on December 29, 2018, while searching for mussels,” the report added.

Chinese Swiss Tourist found guilty of wife’s murder in Nelson hotel
Wealthy Chinese born Swiss tourist Bin Jiang, 64, has been found guilty of murdering his wife Yanyan Meng, 62, in a Nelson hotel room, last April, while holidaying in New Zealand.
Meng’s body was found in the couple’s room at the Rutherford Hotel in Nelson on April 27 last year.
The jury took under four hours to reach a verdict on the seventh day of the trial at the High Court in Nelson.
The Chinese born multimillionaire was remanded in custody to reappear for sentencing on December 19.

Chinese woman killed: Moeraki fatal crash victim named [30 Nov, 2016 5:00am]
Police have released the last name of a Chinese National killed in a three car crash on State Highway 1 near Moeraki last week. She was 39-year-old Miss Li.
A police spokeswoman said Miss Li’s family requested her first name not be made public (!!!)
Miss Li died last Tuesday at the scene of the crash on the Hampden-Palmerston road, near the Moeraki Boulders turnoff.

“Police can now name the person killed in a fatal crash near Moeraki Boulders, Otago on Tuesday 22 November 2016.
“She was 39-year-old Miss LI, from China.
“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing and for that reason Police cannot comment further.”
