Gangrapes are now the most common type of violent crimes in New Zealand.

A 20-year-old woman was gangraped on the banks of the Avon River in Christchurch on Sunday.

The rapes occurred after she changed “her route home to avoid a group of males who were on the corner of Madras and Armagh Streets,” according to the police
