Asian man killed in crash
Sow Yin Young, 65, was killed violently when his ute and a passenger train collided on Friday morning at a railway crossing off State Highway 1, near Ōhau, police said.

Thanks to the victim’s extended family, who arranged for a death notice, police was unable to block report of the fatality and treat it as a state secret.
Mr YOUNG Sow Yin’s Death Notice: Suddenly in Ohau on 22 September 2017 aged 65 years. Beloved husband of Cui Juan. Loved father of Lily, Jock, Sharyn, and Caleb. Cherished brother and brother-in-law of Sol Ying and Kim Hong Tam, Sol King and Li Hua Liu, and Hok Yin and Pui Young. In lieu of flowers donations to the Rescue Helicopter would be appreciated and can be left at the service. A service to celebrate the life of Yin will be held at Queen Street Chapel, Levin, on Wednesday, 27 September at 10.30am. Followed by interment at The Avenue Cemetery.

“The number of cases of paratyphoid fever in the Hawke’s Bay has risen. Paratyphoid is similar to typhoid fever and can cause serious illness. Without treatment, it has a 10 to 15 percent mortality rate. The DHB said at least two of the people affected ate mussels caught in the Napier Marina.”

A 48-year-old cyclist was killed in a crash with a car on Western Lake Road, approximately 7km south of Featherston about5pm yesterday (Sunday 24 September). THE REPORT WAS RELEASED BY POLICE TODAY, but backdated Sunday for UNKNOWN 😉 reasons. [The victim was at least the second cyclist killed in NZ over the weekend.]

At least one person was killed in a serious crash involving three cars near Kennedys Road on State Highway 16 in Kumeu around 8.35pm.

Road Fatalities: Police Censorship
Both the actual number of road fatalities and cases of statistical resurrections performed by the Ministry of Transport over the weekend remain UNKNOWN.
At least FIVE, possibly as many as SEVEN, people were killed in serious crashes on Wednesday, August 23, according to a informed source, but only three fatalities were reported by police.
On Monday, August 28, police reported at least THREE road fatalities. All three victims seem to have been statistically resurrected by the Ministry of Truth (Minitru).
At least nine road fatalities occurred over the weekend (September 1 – 2), according to reliable insider information. However, only four of the deaths were reported by police, and of those, just three recorded by the Ministry of Transport.
Between September 18 and 21, 2017 at least SIX road fatality victims were resurrected by MOT.
Of an estimated 2,000 people who have received near-fatal/critical/serious injuries on New Zealand roads so far this year, none has perished, according to NZ police reports, or lack thereof.

Indecent assault in Napier
Police say they’ve arrested an 83-year-old man in relation to sexual assault on Sunday. “At about 5.45pm a woman was walking along Avondale Road when she was approached by an elderly male. The male offered her fruit and hugged her. He then assaulted the victim and walked off.”

Earthquakes hit in and around New Zealand
A strong earthquake measuring 6.1 magnitude struck 256km W of Auckland Island, New Zealand, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The quake was centered at 50.371°S, 162.550°E and struck at a depth of 10.0 km, earlier this afternoon. Minutes later, at 2:42 PM, a quake measuring 5.1 magnitude struck 30 km north-east of Seddon at a depth of 17km, Geonet said.
Kaikōura quake triggered massive ‘slow slips’ up to 600km away
“The slow slips occurred within days of the 7.8-magnitude Kaikōura quake, 15km deep below seabed, and spanned more than 15,000 sq km off the Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne coasts,” according to a report.
“One of the most intriguing factors is that the quake-triggered slow slip off the Gisborne coast [was] up to 600km away from its epicentre in North Canterbury,” said GNS Science’s Dr Laura Wallace.
Massive sinkhole discovered in Waihi
A massive sinkhole measuring 20 metres in diameter has been discovered on a council reserve between the Waihi Rugby Club and the Martha open pit, the council said.
“The sinkhole has collapsed into an unfilled stope in the historic Royal workings within the High Hazard Zone. Original records indicate that the historic stope was partially backfilled, but the upper 20 metres remained unfilled.”
