Tourists cancel holidays in NZ after sex attack

Tourists concerned for their safety are canceling their holidays after the latest waves of tourist rapes in New Zealand.

Hundreds of booking have been canceled by the Dutch and other European tourists after a new wave of sex attacks including the rape of a Dutch couple on January 15, 2009.

A 25-year-old shearer forced a Dutch tourist to watch him as he raped the holidaymaker’s girlfriend.

“It’s hard enough with tourism numbers being down without having to worry that [kiwi rapists] denting your industry,” Jucy Group chief executive Tim Alpe said yesterday.
