NZ 2009 Road Deaths 123 – 125 [at least]
Of a total of at least three killed on the roads this weekend, only one was reported
A woman was killed when the defective vehicle she was traveling in rolled on State Highway 10 near Kerikeri. According to Infector Barry Smelley from the police northern communications center, she was killed at the scene.
Three others in the vehicle were injured. One of the occupants with near-fatal injuries was flown to Whangarei Hospital and two others with serious injuries were taken there by ambulance.

The blog’s statistical model confirms the number of road deaths for 2009 so far (both the reported and unreported numbers killed). According to the model, the average monthly number of road deaths for 2009 are about 48 killed (8 people killed every 5 days, or 584 killed throughout 2009) under the current conditions. A badly decomposed body, possibly of a tourist, was found near Wellington
Meanwhile, a badly decomposed body was discovered in a vehicle off State Highway 2 north of Wellington.
The body had apparently been left there for a few weeks, Defective Sergeant Hardwood of Lower Hutt police said.
