Tonnes of rock cover beach in North Taranaki
A massive landslip, triggered by an earthquake that struck the area yesterday, has covered a section of beach near the Whitecliffs walkway in North Taranaki.
A strong 5.0 magnitude struck 10 kilometres north of Opunake on Tuesday morning and was felt across the region.
“We would recommend that people don’t try and cross the slip,” said DOC operations manager. “The cliffs above them could still be very unstable.”
