Another young American killed in New Zealand

Young American from Colorado killed in NZ

Jeffrey Charles Atkinson, 22, from Colorado in the United States reportedly fell 500 meters to his death while skiing in Treble Cone on Monday afternoon, police said.

[Treble Cone is a ski area near Wanaka in the Queenstown Southern Lakes District, South Island, New Zealand. Moderator]

“He’s travelled about 500m down the slope and while we don’t know what happened … he’s obviously sustained injuries that ended up causing his death,” said Senior Sergeant Allan Grindell.

Interested parties and readers should NOT be surprised as and when the moral dwarfs pin the blame for the tragic death on the victim, as usual.

Heliskier Roger Greville of Sydney, Australia, was killed in an avalanche in back country near Kingston in August, 2015.

“The coronial investigation into Greville’s death has not yet been concluded,” said a report. [No cigars for guessing what the coroner is up to, or NOT.]

About 3,400 overseas visitors, international students, foreign workers and new immigrants have been killed and at least 18,000 others seriously injured in New Zealand since the year 2000.

Police name fatal Christchurch CBD crashes and other road victims

The following people were killed on New Zealand death road between Saturday and Monday:

The Samoan man Aliielua Fesili Salaivao, 38, as the driver of a van that collided with a southbound car on Durham St (CCBD) late Saturday.
Only 500 metres away and less than 24 hours later, Trish Anne Beets, 44, was killed when the car in which she was travelling was struck by a bus on Sunday night.
Steve Skinner, 45, a married father-of-two, was killed after the four-wheel drive he was in rolled “several times” on the Tekapo-Twizel Rd, near Lake Pukaki, about 4.30pm Monday.
Thomas Evans, 8, was tragically killed after being hit by a passing car on State Highway 5. He was following his father across the road after their own vehicle broke down near Tirau yesterday.
The identity of a 30-year-old female who was killed in a motor vehicle incident near the sky field car park on Mt Taranaki on Sunday has not yet been released, probably because she was an overseas visitor. http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/fatal-motor-accident-mt-taranaki
