Bloody weekend road toll reaches six, seventh in a critical condition

Sixth victim of fatal crash named

Background:

48 Hours of death and mayhem on bloody NZ roads: At least 5 people were killed and about 2 dozen others seriously injured since Saturday night

Five killed and 2 dozen others seriously injured on NZ roads

The driver of the car which was struck by a van travelling west-bound along Salisbury St, Christchurch last weekend, has died. He was 44 year old Michael James Burnby, said Canterbury Police.

The front seat passenger in the car, Tony Tucker, the seventh victim, remains in a critical condition in Christchurch Hospital ICU.

Two more people killed on NZ roads Thursday (8 October)

Motorcyclist killed on Fergusson Drive Upper Hutt named – Hutt Valley Police can confirm that the motorcyclist killed on Wednesday 7 September in Upper Hutt was 37 year old Koro Robin PEACHEY of Wainuiomata. http://www.police.govt.nz/news/release/motorcyclist-killed-fergusson-drive-upper-hutt-named
