Body pulled from Auckland Harbour confirmed as Indian Student’s

Auckland City Police have confirmed that the body pulled from Auckland harbour on Sunday 18 October was that of missing Indian student Mandeep Singh.

Mr Singh’s death is now the subject of a Coroner’s enquiry, said police. [But isn’t that just a formality because the police has already decided what happened to the victim?]

Mr Singh was last seen by friends at 3am on the previous Sunday after leaving the Bungalow 8 Bar in Viaduct Harbour, according to the police and media reports.

Police had stated on Friday they didn’t believe Mr Singh’s disappearance to be suspicious.

• Mr Amandeep Singh, 22, disappeared on the night of December 29th. He was a field worker for a contracting company that does various work in the Poverty Bay area.
• The body of Shalvin Prasad, 21, was found still ablaze on the side of McRobbie Rd in Kingseat on Thursday morning, according to a report.
• Alvin Singh, 34, a Fiji born Indian was found dead in his car. His body was discovered on a busy road five days after he was reported missing. March 7, 2013

• Bismon Xavier, aged 30, and Minoj Haridas, aged 31, both from Kerala in India were killed in a road crash in Paengaroa, near Te Puke.
• Okahu Bay body identified. Police say they have identified the woman whose body was found at Auckland’s Okahu Bay yesterday morning. She was a  53-year-old of Indian residing at Mt Roskill. It’s not known whether the victim was related to the 20-year-old South Asian woman whose body was reportedly discovered near by on Tamaki Dr.

• Another Indian student murdered in Auckland.  The man found dead on Mission Bay beach (13 May 2015) has been identified as 21 year-old Manjeet Singh, an Indian  student, police said.
• Police have named two men killed in Paengaroa, near Te Puke, on Sunday, 28 December, 2014. The were  Bismon Xavier, aged 30, and Minoj Haridas, aged 31, were both from Kerala in India.
