Divorced from reality: New Zealand ranks 1st in the world

Posted by te2ataria on June 27, 2016

Sent by Alice in Zeanderland

Which of the two headlines should you believe?

  1. New Zealand ranks 4th in prosperity fiction

  2. New Zealand ranks 4th in prosperity index

[Hint: one of them has no place in reality. Moderator]

“New Zealand ranks fourth in the world for prosperity, and number one outside of Europe, according to a London-based [stink] tank.

[Despite the abject poverty, our country was  outclassed only by Norway, Switzerland and Denmark.]

“The think tank looks at 89 variables to come up with the list. They include gross domestic product and the number of people in full-time work, as well as more interesting figures like the number of secure internet servers a country has and how well rested people feel on a daily basis.” http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/81474699/New-Zealand-ranks-4th-in-prosperity-index

[However, the “stink tank” ignored the 300,000 or so Kiwi kids who live in poverty, the homeless, the helpless…  A good journalist would investigate the link between the stink tank and the UN grants paid out by Helen Clark’s department.]

“Based on the available data of 142 countries, Legatum’s index [sounds like a viral infection of the Gastrointestinal tract] ranked the 16 top-performing nations”: New Zealand ranked 4th, beating Sweden to 5th place, Canada was 6th, Australia 7th, followed by the Netherlands, Finland, Ireland, with The united States in 11th place, Germany at 14th and the United Kingdom settled for 15th place [Was that before Brexit?], followed by Austria, which was the last on the list.

Reality Check

Former journalist Caitlin McGee, who spent years living in the Middle East and reported from South Sudan, Sierra Leone and Indonesia, recently returned home to New Zealand, only to be dismayed with what she’s found…

To not be able to swim in our rivers because they are so dirty would’ve been unthinkable to me 10 years ago. In March, the Waikato River Authority said it could take up to 100 years for the Waikato and Waipa rivers to be restored to clean and healthy levels. I’ve seen first-hand waterways that run off the Waikato River blanketed in a creeping toxic algae, festering like a black drain, lifeless. Meanwhile, what remains of our pristine water is being sold by the likes of the Ashburton District Council, to be extracted, bottled up and sent overseas.

Above ground, New Zealand’s reported rate of intimate partner violence is the highest in the developed world. Our incarceration rate is also one of the highest in the developed world and more than half of the men behind bars are Māori. According to Corrections Minister Judith Collins, our prison population topped 9,000 for the first time last year: “Since 2014, the prison population has increased… leading to record highs throughout 2015 and early 2016.” In part, she said the booming prison population was due to locking up family violence offenders for longer.

According to Infometrics analysis the health system has been under-funded by $1.7 billion since 2010, leaving it unable to keep up with inflation and population growth. Meanwhile District Health Boards are being squeezed, exemplified by a recent report into the Waikato DHB’s Mental Health and Addiction services that argues for the need to “secure adequate resources and meet staffing gaps” immediately.

Then there’s housing and homelessness. New Zealand has one of the fastest growing rates of income inequality in the OECD and it’s on show in our biggest city. In Auckland, families with at least one working parent are living in vans and cars, with marae and charitable trusts stepping in to fill the breach left by social services. How galling it must be for those parents trying to find a warm place for their children to sleep to then see the Prime Minister’s son in all his privileged glory, posing with a Lambourghini and helicopter in his music video.  […]

I have lived a privileged life. As a woman, I have had basic rights to education, employment. I choose who I love and I grew up in a financially stable household. The majority of the world’s women do not have these luxuries. I know I am lucky. I may have not lived through injustice and hardship but I know what it looks like. And I am seeing more and more of it in the last place I expected: home.

Ram-raids force dairy owners to sleep on floor of east Auckland shop

“A family is sleeping on the floor of their Auckland dairy out of fear that ram-raiders will return to their shop.”

Raiders drove a car into the front of Glendowie Bay Superette, owned by a Chinese family,  in the early hours of June 8, police said.

“Since then Wenyi Cao, her husband John Sands and their 17-year-old son have been sleeping in their store because they are worried their emergency plywood door won’t keep thieves away.”

“It’s a situation all too familiar for Cao. Housing Minister ‘social cleansing’ Auckland

Another American woman killed in a car crash

Foreword: There’s no crisis in New Zealand, social, housing, or otherwise, that money couldn’t solve, at least temporarily.

Homeless could be offered up to $5000 to leave Auckland: Paula Bennett

Up to 250 homeless families could be offered as much (!) as  $5,000 to leave Auckland, Social Housing Minister Paula Bennett has confirmed.

“I would say to those that are homeless that there is a chance that they could get a house in days if they were willing to look outside of Auckland.” [Out of sight, out of mind…]

The relocation policy was “one that I had thought of [all by myself] in the last week”, she said. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11644665

Helen [Crooked] Clark denies the truth in Foreign Policy article

[Do you believe Helen Clark, Tony Blair, or Donald Trump!?] The former New Zealand Prime Minister [the most heinous] Helen Clark has denied allegations in Foreign Policy article that she retaliated against a critical investigation of the [Clark-and-the-likes-infested] United Nations by driving one of the investigators out of their job are “totally fabricated”.

She has also dismissed other revelations in a Foreign Policy article published Tuesday as being  made up. [Everyone is lying, except for the Crooked Clark, of course.]

Clark’s seven-year tenure in charge of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) had “left a trail of embittered peers and subordinates”, Foreign Policy said. Her UN colleagues had accused of her of “ruthlessly ending the careers of underlings in her quest to advance her candidacy and of undercutting the UN’s promotion of human rights”.

The most serious allegation was that Clark’s senior staff had forced out American-Swedish UN official Lena Sinha after she had participated in an investigation which was critical of the UNDP’s response to mass atrocities in Sri Lanka.

The investigation, called the Petrie Report, criticised senior members of Clark’s agency, saying that they had downplayed the Sri Lankan Government’s role in killing thousands of Tamils.

After the report was completed, Lena Sinha, who had held a position at the UNDP for 15 years, was told she would “never work for the UNDP again”, according to Foreign Policy. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11644241

U.N. Secretary-General Front-Runner Faces Internal Uproar

More than four years ago, Sinha was appointed to serve as chief of staff on a high-profile panel producing a report on the mass atrocities in Sri Lanka. The Petrie report — named after the lead author, Charles Petrie, a former U.N. official and occasional advisor to the U.N. chief — provided a damning account of the U.N.’s “systemic failure” to advocate for the protection of hundreds of thousands of Tamils caught in the line of fire in the final months of the country’s brutal civil war in 2009. It criticized senior officials in New York, as well as UNDP’s leadership team in Colombo, charging they routinely downplayed the extent of the Sri Lankan government’s complicity in killing the vast majority of the more than 70,000 civilians who died in indiscriminate shelling. The U.N. team in Sri Lanka “did not perceive the prevention of killing of civilians as their responsibility — and agency and department heads at UNHQ were not instructing them otherwise,” according to the Petrie report.

Body found in van [neither suspicious, nor unexplained by Auckland standards]

A body has been found in a van in south Auckland at 7.40am this morning.

Police are said to be “inquiring into whether the death is suspicious” and whether it will be referred to the coroner. [NOTE: The writer, Catherine Gaffaney, who is a general reporter based in Auckland, is clearly implying there would be instances where the deaths would NOT be referred to the coroner!]

About 900 people are killed on NZ roads each year [Blog estimate]

The State’s other Stinking Secrets

Truth hurts New Zealand tourism. The average tourist would not visit this country, if they knew true extent of the daily carnage on our deadly roads. Therefore:

To protect the tourism industry, about two-thirds of the road fatalities in New Zealand go unreported by our political police, or unrecorded by Minitru [“Ministry of Transport”.]

About 2.7 million licensed but not necessary qualified drivers, half million or so unlicensed/unqualified drivers and more than one million tourists (per year) drive on New Zealand death roads.

A large number of the above drive a vehicle under the influence (illicit drugs, banned substances, prescription medication…), while intoxicated, fatigued or mentally unfit, resulting in inordinate numbers of fatalities and injuries. [Other factors for the carnage include deadly roads, road unworthy vehicles…]

Between 2001 and 2014, New Zealand’s vehicle fleet reportedly increased by 32 per cent, while the population grew by 16 per cent and foreign travel was up by 15 per cent.  And over the last 10 years the number of international visitors has increased by about 30 per cent.

Today is DAY 160 of the latest NZ TOURISTS or truth? (police censorship of road fatalities) campaign

  • Blog estimate: About 900 people are killed on NZ roads each year. [Most probably] up to 368 road fatalities have occurred in NZ since 1 January 2016

How do they do it?

Police manipulate the road toll by censoring reports of fatal crashes, while the Ministry of Transport simply delete the unwanted road fatalities, even from their published records.

Who is asking answering these questions?

Who do New Zealanders admire the most?

Could it be the same people who lied: “NZ is the happiest, safest, most civilized… country in the world”,  again?

Let me guess, does it involve the former PM, Mrs Dracula, and the teenage Korean golf player?

And, why are Aussies being accused of picking a child-molester to be their most admired man!

Thankfully, by the time you read about the Americans, you are well prepared for the shock: Michelle and [Brownnosing] Barack [Obsequious] Obama took the top spots in the USA. Is that even consistent with some of the other polls that are only partially rigged?

What about the UK? “Stephen [Why?] Hawking and the Queen came out on top in the UK.”

As for the world’s most favorite critters, some 7.5 billion people [just kidding] chose Bill [I-want-it-all] Gates as their most admired man, and Angelina Jolie the most admired woman in the world since 2015.

Pope Francis was booted out of the world’s top 10 because of his views on immigration and carpet-bombing, while the U.S. Messiah, Donald Trump, and Mark [I-don’t-have-to-work-for-my-money] Zuckerberg jumped into the top 20 for the first time.

[When your “survey respondents” are the hundreds of  “social sycophants”, with strong links to the “deception state”, and employed by Internet-rent-a-crowd companies like “Comments Anonymous, Inc.”, or “We Troll Inc.”, based in the Big Rotten Apple, this is exactly what you should expect!]

Are you one of the hundred or so people paid to vote at YouGov?

Police Brutality – Police Power Over the Rule of Law and Justice

Punching police officer escapes conviction

Timaru constable Marcus John Dominey, 38, a Canterbury police officer who repeatedly punched a handcuffed youth in the back of a patrol car has today escaped a conviction.

The worthless officer was allegedly spat at, taunted, and “clearly provoked” before the assault happened in June 2014, a court was told.

Judge Raoul [corruption-is-good-for-justice] Neave said the officer should be “praised to the skies” for his actions, calling him a “hero”.

Deadly Police Chase

You were never safe on the roads, and now police pursuits could kill your granny while she is sleep at home, too!

Woman dies of heart attack after car chased by police crashes into her house

The victim, Maureen Houghton, 72, and her husband of 51 years, Gary, were asleep at 12.15am when they awoke to a shudder.

A Hamilton teen in a hot police pursuit lost control of a stolen car and crashed into Houghton’s Hamilton home. [Were the idiots also trying to recover the stolen car intact?]

Doomsday UN nominee Helen Clark the “answer to our prayers”

Posted by te2ataria on April 5, 2016

Sent by a reader

What little credibility U.N. might have had would be flushed down the toilet, if Clark appointed

Clark is supported by two “organizations”:

  1. An obscure youth organization (http://www.globalinstituteforyouth.org/partners/) based at an unknown address in USA has said Clark would be the “answer to our prayers”.
  2. NZ PM John Key has confirmed the Government [he] will nominate Helen Clark for the United Nations top job as secretary general.

[Rest of this submission was edited by blog moderators, who have extensively commented on the credibility of Clark as a high-profile UN freeloader.]

Helen Clark is at it again!

New Zealand ranks as the world’s 9th best country in UN-doctored-report

New Zealand’s ranking as the nicest country in the world to live has slipped [probably to dampen suspicions of institutional corruption within the U.N. ] to ninth position, equal with Canada and behind the United States.  However, the sheepland still remains in the top 10, by hook or by Helen Clark.

The annual Human Development Index (HDI), released by the Helen Clark-led UN Development Programme this week, ranks 188 countries according to life expectancy, education and income or standard of living (See below).

[Interestingly, the report follows a survey that named New Zealand as the world’s most ignorant developed nation, shortly after the country was named  as “third most creative country in the world.”]

Top 10 HDI Countries in 2014:

1. Norway
2. Australia
3. Switzerland
4. Denmark
5. Netherlands
6. Ireland, Germany
8. United States
9. Canada, New Zealand

The Clark Factor

Back in 2008 and 2009, New Zealand was languishing in 20th place, but that suddenly changed in 2010 after ex-NZ Prime Minister Helen Clark took over (March 2009) as the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, and changed the calculation methods.

How Reliable is the HDI?

Norway is the nicest country in the world to live, for the 12th year in a row, according to the HDI ranking. However, it has the “the second-highest rate of deaths by drug overdose in Europe – 70 per million, compared to a European average of only 16 per million. Only Estonia has a higher rate, and that is dropping,” said a report.

Although New Zealand ranks 9 by HDI, the country is 32 by Gross National Income per capita and 32nd on the gender inequality index, said a report.

Further, New Zealand has one of the highest, if not the highest, teen suicide rates among OECD countries.

And the ranking follows a New Zealand Children Commissioner’s report suggesting that poverty in New Zealand is far worse now than it was in the 1980s, a report said.

“In comparison, Australia and Ireland are ranked at 19 and 21 respectively on this index.”

And the United States? Every year some 32,514 people including 2,677 children die from gun violence. And it takes just an email to paralyze a major city the size of Los Angeles with 14 million inhabitants.

The Human Development Index (HDI) – Wikipedia:

—The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite statistic of life expectancy, education, and income per capita indicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development. A country scores higher HDI when the life expectancy at birth is longer, the education period is longer, and the income per capita is higher. The HDI was developed by Pakistani economist Mahbub ul Haq, is anchored in the Indian Nobel laureate Amartya Sen’s work on human capabilities, often framed in terms of whether people are able to “be” and “do” desirable things in their life, and was published by the United Nations Development Programme [headed by Helen Clark].—

  •  Isn’t it time to audit Ms. Clark’s activities and hold her accountable for the wanton waste of public funds?

Three Reasons Why Clark’s UN Appointment Must Be Annulled

1. Helen Clark has amassed much more wealth than a NZ career politician could on wages and investment, during her career as a NZ ‘politician’ [and former PM.] What guarantee is there that she won’t misappropriate UN money?

2. Helen Clark’s character is morally objectionable. Her lacking in moral fiber influences her ability and character to run a large public organization. Her future actions, like her past, could and in all probability would harm the millions of  vulnerable people throughout the world who depend on the UNDP.

3. During her 8-year stint as Prime Minister, New Zealand became a “destination country” for the trafficking of women for sex from Malaysia, Hong Kong, China …

UN Policy: Don’t Ask; don’t tell—too bad if it’s already common knowledge

Helen Clark has been confirmed as new head of the United Nations Development Program UNDP

UNDP has a budget of about NZ$9 billion and provides training, advice support and all other intangible services for developing countries.

“I guess this is another of those moments,” Helen [Caligula] Clark said.

“… the sort of sense of ‘gee,’ ‘golly,’ ‘gosh’ is almost immediately replaced by ‘there’s an awful lot of things to do’.” [I bet there is.]

NZ least corrupt nation? [ROFWL]

Posted by te2ataria on September 24, 2008

You must be bloody joking!

Don’t exactly know what sort of bribery was involved here, or how much was paid to the con artists, but NO ONE could call New Zealand “one of the three least corrupt nations on Earth” while keeping a straight face.

A cut-and-paste organization, the so called Transparency International [sounds like a mule from George Soros stables,] has named New Zealand alongside Denmark and Sweden as the world’s least corrupt nations.

This faux nomination comes amid the corruption scandal that lead  to corporate manslaughter committed by Fonterra, one of New Zealand’s major companies, which also involves New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Helen Clark, and her sidekick, the “Multiple” Minister, Phil Goff.

Dream on, New Zealand, but don’t give other countries like Sweden and Denmark a bad name by association!

If you can read the story while keeping a straight face, and without a snicker, here’s a link.
